This table has been sorted to display the fastest *average speed deals first.
This table has been limited to display a maximum of 10 deals; sorted by the highest download speed first.
* The "average" download speed displayed in Mb is the speed available to 50% of customers with this product during peak time (between 8pm and 10pm). The actual speed you will get depends on a variety of factors such as your cabling, your area, how far you are from the telephone exchange as well as time of day. The majority of providers will tell you the speed you will likely receive when you begin your online sign up — this may differ from the average speed displayed on our table.
The deals available at your postcode are subject to local availability. The provider will confirm availability for your line.
Money services are provided at no cost to you, but we may receive a commission from the companies we refer you to.
EE is based in Hatfield and operates under the BT Group. While EE as a brand was founded in 2010, making it one of the UK’s youngest mobile networks, the company itself was previously known to the UK as separate networks Orange and T-Mobile throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
Despite being primarily a mobile network, EE offers a good range of home broadband options with several superfast offerings. All packages come with unlimited downloads, a smart hub router, free set up and speeds that aren’t subject to traffic management, so it never slows down. Current broadband options include:
Average speed: 10Mbps
EE’s standard ADSL broadband package is ideal for casual users, supporting general browsing, social media and non-HD streaming for small one or two-person households.
Average speed: 36Mbps
Ideal for small families with multiple devices, you’ll be able to enjoy reliable connection on this plan as well as streaming, though probably not if all your devices are trying to stream at once.
Average speed: 67Mbps
Upping the speed, this package will also cater well to families, especially those with enthusiastic gamers and streamers.
Average speed: 145Mbps
EE’s fastest broadband offerings come in two levels. EE Fibre Max 1 is already a huge leap from standard broadband, being 13x faster, perfect for gamers, HD and 4K streaming and large households.
Average speed: 300Mbps
Currently EE’s fastest broadband offering, EE Fibre Max 2, is 28x faster than standard ADSL, perfect for 4K streaming and online gaming on multiple devices at once.
EE’s internet router, also called a Smart Hub, is EE’s most powerful device. It’s twice as powerful as its previous model, and best of all, it’s totally free to all fibre broadband customers.
More than just a Wi-Fi device, the EE router doubles as a broadband control panel. By logging into the Hub Manager, customers can see which devices are currently connected, how much data they are using and can even turn off access to certain devices, ideal for parents at bedtime. Featuring seven antennas, four ethernet ports and a USB drive for easy file sharing, EE’s Smart Hub has a multifunctional edge on many competitors.
EE’s broadband packages come with extra benefits for those who are already mobile customers on the network. Depending on your broadband service, you can get between 5GB and 20GB extra data added to your mobile plan, provided you pay monthly.
EE offers several call packages that can be added to broadband deals, these include:
Anytime calls to landlines – covers UK landlines
Anytime calls to landlines and mobiles – covers UK landlines and 1,500 minutes to UK mobiles
Anytime UK and international calls – covers UK landlines, 1,500 minutes to UK mobiles, calls to 50 selected country’s landlines abroad and a 30% discount on other numbers abroad
EE landline options can also be enhanced with ‘Call Plus’. When compared to competitors that price these features separately, Call Plus’s package of calling features is a great value for money option:
Choose to refuse
Anonymous call rejection
Keeping up with competitors, EE offers TV and broadband deals too. However, these are exclusive to pay monthly mobile customers. EE offers Apple TV as an optional extra with its broadband packages. The set top box gives access to BBC iPlayer, All 4 and any streaming services customers are subscribed to, including Netflix.
BT Sport can also be added for a further fee, so customers can enjoy the premium sports fixtures of BT while sticking with EE for their broadband needs.
With fibre-optic broadband being so widely available, there is a very good chance you’ll be able to access EE Broadband, but you should check on the provider’s website to be sure. If you find you don’t fall within its service area, EE has one of the UK’s best mobile networks in terms of coverage.
Setting up broadband when you move house can be stressful, but EE offers this service completely free, so you can take your plan with you. Current incentives include getting the first month of broadband in the new address for free and a 50GB data boost for customers with EE mobile plans.
EE has the UK’s biggest network when it comes to mobile coverage thanks to T-Mobile and Orange blending their original networks at EE’s inception. EE reports that Ofcom cites its coverage for 4G networks as supplying 84% of the UK, with a goal to make that 100% in 2020.
EE has several mobile broadband options — for rural areas that struggle to get a decent home broadband connection mobile broadband can be a great alternative, with comparative speeds and reliability.
The 4G router from EE lets you enjoy 31Mbps speeds without the need for landlines or a wired connection. The router plugs in easily and gives a 30 metre range to cover most homes. Data can also be boosted with an extra free 5GB and the connection will support up to 32 devices. There’s also a LAN port for gamers.
Further boosting connections, EE offers customers the option to have an external antenna installed to improve connectivity to its 4G network.
This pocket Wi-Fi router provides connection to up to 20 devices at a time, anywhere that the EE mobile network can be accessed. EE claims that the pocket router can give reliable connection even in busy locations. A 4G option is also available.
EE reserves some of its best deals for customers who already have EE mobile plans. For those willing to switch mobile providers along with broadband, the benefits may make it worthwhile. As well as exclusive access to the EE TV and broadband deal, there are other deals on smart devices (see below) and extra data added to your monthly mobile allowance.
As a mobile network, EE offers a range of call plans and mobile data offerings, but the provider also branches out into smart home solutions.
The broadband provider offers smart home devices from a wide range of manufacturers, including:
Philips Hue smart light bulbs
Ring Video Doorbell
EE allows customers to spread the cost of these devices across 11 months interest-free as part of its monthly mobile plan.
EE offers smart speakers that work on Wi-Fi connections, current models include:
Google Home Max Chalk
Google Nest Mini
EE offers a year of unlimited smart home help to get your household up and running with any smart devices purchased from the provider.
For EE home broadband, a landline is required. However, this is not required for mobile broadband options. If you need a new line to be installed, EE currently charges £50 for this service.
EE’s offering of BT Sport coverage includes BT Sport Ultimate only, the Ultra HD sport channel.
This depends on your plan – its Max plan users will be able to roam in 53 locations, but it is best to check on EE’s website before you head abroad.
The most notable thing about EE’s customer support is its live video option that lets you share precisely what you are looking at with EE for quicker problem solving. EE also has an online community where customers and customer service representatives can post and share issues 24/7.
EE more than holds its own in the home broadband market, with its highest speeds beating several providers that offer broadband as a mainstay. If you are already an EE customer, it might be a good choice if only for convenience, though with optional TV options and competitive packages, it’s a tempting choice even if you aren’t already with EE.
