NatWest mortgages

I got my mortgage with NatWest through a mortgage broker as at the time we had only been self employed for 2 years. NatWest was one of the few banks that would provide a mortgage to us in that situation and we got a good fixed 2 year rate.

After this was due for renewal I have continued with NatWest as it was easy to find another fixed rate online. No further valuations were required so it was a really easy process with minimal stress and with a good rate as well.

I have not had to use the customer service department so I cannot comment on that.

A simple hassle free experience

I got my mortgage through an independent financial advisor. It was the best deal at the time and I've never had any problems.

The customer service has been good but then I haven't had much need to speak to them.

The annual statements are easy to understand, there's not much to them really.

They could perhaps include a comparison of their other products but I'm happy with it as it is, to be honest.

The fee free overpayments is a useful feature although capped it is at a reasonable level.

Fairly human banking

I was out of work for a while and ended up three months behind with my mortgage. After the usual burying of my head in the sand, I plucked up the courage to speak to them (as repossession letters were arriving).

I actually found them to be sympathetic and approachable. A catch-up plan was agreed upon between us and, as long as I stuck to it, they assured me that I wouldn't be bothered by them anymore. This has since proved to be the case.

Approachable when I was in trouble

Not an exciting product

A really good bank

They are very good. I can view my details online. I haven't had to contact them much but when I have done they have been as efficient, friendly and helpful as you would expect any mortgage provider to be really.

When we first got the mortgage quite a while ago now we found it really quick and straightforward. The guy that we spoke to who approved the mortgage and did all the paperwork was really helpful friendly and informative.

I'm very glad we went with them in the end. The only negative is that they do not offer holiday breaks which would have been handy when we got married.

Their customer service is good

No option to have payment holidays

NatWest mortgage

I took this out mainly because my main current account was with them, which made the application process rather easy. They had a competitive fixed rate deal at the time.

I can't comment on customer service because I've never needed to use it, any minor issues can be sorted out online. I'd use Natwest again when the deal ends but really it all depends on what rate offers are open.

I was offered a competitive rate
