Do not use Virgin Travel Insurance

Do not use Virgin Travel Insurance, unless you have the funds to deal with medical emergencies and then be compensated by them. My daughter was emergently treated in the USA and had to be admitted to hospital. At that time they reassured me that everything would be taken care of and they would be in communication with the hospital. This was not the case. This is now eight months later and we are still receiving letters from the hospital asking us to pay anywhere from $200 to $800 for services that Virgin has neglected to pay. And even though I lodged a complaint four months ago, it has still not been dealt with. Being hounded by hospitals because of the ineptitude of your insurance company is not what I would value for money.

Incapable of paying hospital bills on time.

Don't use Virgin

I have a ?90 per year policy travelling with them which covers globally. I missed a flight in Mar-12 and when I filed for a claim they not only took too long but also asked for the most silliest of things. The asked me to ask Ryanair to provide evidence which costs ?17 (non refundable by Virgin) that I didn't fly on the day when clearly there is a flight the very next morning at 7am. This is very ridiculous service and the people that work that have no idea whats going on.

They are just as bad as AXA don't waste your money

Dont use this travel insurance

While in Amercia I had my digital camera and camcorder stolen, I reported this to Virgin Travel Insurance on my return to be told I should try to claim one of these items from my Home Insurance as the amount I could claim would not cover both items. I did infact claim my Camcorder via my home Insurance RiAS the whole procedure scanning all the documents answering questions over several calls in total my claim was sorted and settled in 2 weeks, Virgin informed me my case was entered onto the system 8 days after they received all of the information and it could take 6 - 8 weeks from it being entered onto system before I hear from them this is appalling I have always purchased travel Insurance luckily I have never needed to use it. Don't buy Virgin.

Nothing positive from Virgin

Time Scale 6- 8 weeks before hearing anything disgusting

Virgin Travel Insurance: useless a complete waste of money

My brother in law had a heart attack while on a family holiday in France. The French hospital did a wonderful job. However Virgin Travel insurance entirely let the family down. There lack of empathy, understanding and inability to grasp the situation was staggering. In the end we arranged all of the repatriation ourselves. All the virgin team did was provide stress and upset. Avoid using them when travelling as they offer no assistance at all.

Created only stress, no empathy, no understanding, incompetent

Don't lose your passport with Virgin Travel Insurance

My passport was stolen while on a trip abroad. The consulate charged me GBP95 for an emergency passport and subsequently I had to apply for a full passport replacement (another GBP 89 with Check & Send)

Virgin only compensates only a fraction of the cost of getting a new passport. They calculate this based on how much is left of the stolen passport. For example, if you have one year left on a 10-year passport, you would get 1/10 of the cost of applying for a 10-year passport. This amounts to GBP 8 in my case

Most shockingly, I found that Virgin excludes lack of passport from their cancellation policy. So if your passport got stolen and you have already booked another flight and can not get a replacement passport, Virgin will not compensate you anything!

Poor cover for loss of passport
