I have been an Atlas Direct customer for years and have always used them to cover any trip abroad. They have provided additional insurance for a medical condition twice and were generally great, reasonably priced and easy to deal with. Last year we paid about £23 for a policy to cover a family of three for a week with no excess. This year for the same cover, same length of trip, same destination, the same two adults and one kid with no special medical declarations etc. I was quoted £53. I tried to call to to speak to someone but was left with their hugely irritating 'please hold' message for 30 minutes so I emailed them instead. Since then I've had a series of messages that appear to have been written by someone who does not understand customer service, insurance or the English language. They claimed to have sent me a quote at a lower price than I had received online which I had never received and when they did eventually forward it to me, it was for a lower level of cover than I had asked for which I found a bit sneaky. The customer service was so woeful, I asked for it to be dealt with as a complaint and was told I wasn't allowed as it was only a quote ie. I was not a customer which I thought was a bit rich considering the number of times I've used them in the past. I won't be using them again!
