Virgin Instant Access ISA

I don't have a regular savings account any longer these days, because the Virgin instant access ISA pays a reasonable rate - or did, compared to savings accounts of a while ago. Access is internet or phone, and internet is what I use. It's easy to transfer money in and out whenever you like, and I've no complaints at all, apart from wishing everyone would pay a bit more interest! But that's more up to the economy and not Virgin. And that's all I can say about this one.

Virgin savings account

The virgin savings account is simple and easy to use. Without much effort you can put money into your account and also pay out to a nominated account , so nice and safe.

It is easy to see how much money you have and there is a full transaction history. Other than putting money into my account, I haven't really used it that much.

Security looks good, you cannot choose your username, you get a computer assigned one. Standard password and security questions routine to access the site.

One minor annoyance is the telephone lines close at 8pm. If you forget your password or have problems with the site, you have to wait until morning.

Virgin Easy Access E-Saver

Recently opened this Account. I chose it because it gives a decent rate and easy access on a low opening balance, which is what I needed. I have transfered money into the account at three different times now, using the Faster Payments System from an external bank and I am very impressed with the speed of the deposit.

Only had a problem with the opening of the account, regarding ID. Send them more identification than what they ask for, because when they give a brief summary of what they want from list a and b, it might not be the i.d they expect (e.g. don't send them anything like P45/P60s etc... because they will not except them, and even though there from HM Customs). I sent off exactly what they asked for on the list, but mine still came back as still needing more I.D.

Speed of the deposit system.... wow

Be careful what you send them as opening ID. Send more than asked for!

Virgin is the better choice of my extremely limited high street

I moved my regular emergency account here when Britannia moved my "local" branch 50 miles and two train journeys away - the "local" Co-Op branch is a similar distance. The staff are friendly and the rates OK. The main thing is I may need fast access to this cash so the branch needs to be near and accessible. It's comfortable and I usually get seen quickly.

Its handy

It's not the best rate

Virgin Northern Rock Easy Access E-Saver

Customer telephone service is indifferent and contradictory. The company do not reply to email enquires nor do they notify customers of any changes in the annual interest rate.

Easy access to money and quick transfer facilities. Good interest rate

Monthly interest never paid on time. Interest reduced without notice
