Excellent rate of interest when the market is so bad

I needed to put some money away to save for future house repairs but the interest rates were so bad. Then I saw on Martins Money Tips that TSB was offering a good rate so I put in the minimum amount. It was very straightforward to open this account, even I who is not very computer literate just followed the instructions and everything went smoothly. The account is still open now.

No direct debits needed

A higher amount on which the interest is paid would be good

Reliable and personal

I find my local TSB brilliant for customer service always smiling and friendly service no matter what the query is or what time of day it is. The website is very easy to use and has some great products which offer good rates. When I went in with a problem they listened and did everything they could to resolve the problem really impressed with the service.

Freindly service and helpful

Great bank with okay rates

They help the local economy thrive, they have drawbacks, for instance the benefits of the student accounts which at not as attractive as others in the market! They're customer service is great, they are very helpful and always have a smile on their face which goes a Long way in my books. They are alway eager to help you in what ever situation you have

Small but perfectly formed

I have a total of 4 accounts with TSB, and pass money between them to maximise interest. One is a Vantage account which I've had for years; two are those new Classic Plus accounts which pay the best interest rates around. The fourth is a monthly saver account which neatly mops up any excess cash.

When I sign into TSB online, all the accounts are there on one page so I can simply smooth them all off to take the best advantage of their respective rates. The monthly saver doesn't pay as much interest as the Classic Plus accounts, but has the advantage that you can keep building it and receiving interest on all the money in there.

You can only pay in a maximum of £250 per month, though, hence the juggling. Otherwise, I'd just pay in as much or as little as I could afford each time.

Easy to manage; reasonable and stable interest rate
