Halifax is the Best Bank to Bank

I was having problems with the bank I was using and my friend told me all about Halifax and how good they were, so I changed over to them, and I've never looked back.

I've had nothing but the best service from them! Halifax has great customer service and some great rates. I've been with them for over 20 years now! And I definitely will be with them for the foreseeable future.

Convenient savings and accessing funds

With a wide range of savings accounts Halifax appears to have an account suitable for all circumstances, for regular savers to occasional savers.

Most accounts offer cash cards to access funds unless the savings are placed on a bond when a certificate is issued, showing the funds and due date. In my experience most savings rates are similar and my Halifax ISA provides around the usual rate with a local branch network full of helpful staff on hand, and a handy telephone and on line service for any time to suit.

Halifax- Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about Halifax. In some areas they are brilliant, good offers for customers and well tailored to my needs. However, on numerous occasions I have struggled to obtain information from them and they do not seem to know what department to forward me onto.

Their limited knowledge of their brand meant that I spent a huge amount of time of the telephone, which was incredibly costly and not what I would expect from a bank. I have also had trouble when attending a branch, the staff can be unwilling to serve, for example when trying to pay money into an account. I have been told on one occasion that I should just use the telephone- when my telephone banking was not set up!

ISA savings with Halifax

I chose this building society because I already bank with them and have had good service for a few years. The interest rates are very competitive and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There is no waiting or penalty if you need to withdraw money or to change to a different savings account, and you can bank online. Customer service is excellent.

Helpful staff at Halifax

I recently went into my local branch to ask about opening a savings account so I can enter the monthly prize draw. The staff member helpfully pointed out that since I already have an account, I can open another one online thus avoiding the need for an appointment lasting at least an hour as apparently the regulations now require banks to conduct a financial review whenever someone opens an account.

The days of just walking into a bank and setting up an account, even with proof of identity etc are long gone. Thank goodness the staff member was clued up enough to ask me the right questions. I'm about to set the account up so I hope she was right! The thing I don't like about my local branch is that they have reduced the number of cashiers from 6 to 4 whilst in the meantime spending thousands on a new layout.
