Personal savings review available by just making an appointment.

Made an appointment for general advice options for the savings I wanted to make, and well worth the time with an extremely helpful person. No hassle afterwards to join. Form-filling was done on line, and the staff completed the accounts in branch giving me information as they went along. Paperwork arrived in the post, and great password protected access via their website to all my accounts.

Plenty of information.

They didn't follow up.

Coventry Building Society Poppy Bonds

I have used the Coventry Poppy bonds for several years as the fixed interest rate for the coming year is normally near the top of the available rates offered. The company also makes a Poppy donation too, which is a good charity to support. The service via mail is always prompt, and I have not had any problems dealing with Coventry BS.

All good, extremely efficient in all respects.

Had our on-line easy access savings account with Coventry BS for a few years, no problems with anything, ever.

I normally shop around and swop accounts regularly to get the best interest rate, but Coventry comes out consistently top so wouldn't dream of changing.

Good security, easy to access, queries always resolved swiftly and courteously.

Very pleased so will remain a loyal customer unless they do something stupid!

Easy on line access with good security

Coventry poppy bond

The Coventry Building Society have recently launched a 3 year fixed interest bond at 2.4% gross rate. This is one of the best rates currently available and appears in some best rate tables. I have been a customer of the Coventry Building Society for some years and they often offer some of the best rates of interest on their products. However, these bonds are frequently oversubscribed and are then withdrawn from offer. I hold a similar bond issued a couple of years ago and the offer was only there for a few weeks. A small amount of interest (0.15%) over and above the rate paid to depositors is paid to The Royal British Legion as a donation hence the name of the bond. Since it is extremely difficult to get an interest rate that not only beats the current rate of inflation after tax going forward most savings products guarantee a reduction in the value of savings. Many savings institutions only offer 2% gross if invested for 5 years. If you are over 65 (which I am not) from January the government through NSI has announced that it will launch a new product that will allow investment up to £20,000. Rates could be as high as 4% gross for a 3 year fixed rate bond and 2.8% for a 1 year bond. Details will not be finalised until December but if the rates are this attractive these bonds will probably be oversubscribed on their first day of issue.

One of the best rates available at present

likely to be withdrawn after just a few weeks

Coventry Building Society

I researched online comparing loads of different products and at the time the rate was quite competitive. All savings accounts have falling rates unless you are prepared to lock money away for years which I'm not. The rate is average at the moment, I'm hoping to get a better rate in time.Coventry has a very secure log in which can be a pain but at least I'm less likely to get hacked which is good.
