Made an appointment for general advice options for the savings I wanted to make, and well worth the time with an extremely helpful person. No hassle afterwards to join. Form-filling was done on line, and the staff completed the accounts in branch giving me information as they went along. Paperwork arrived in the post, and great password protected access via their website to all my accounts.

Plenty of information.

They didn't follow up.

I have used the Coventry Poppy bonds for several years as the fixed interest rate for the coming year is normally near the top of the available rates offered. The company also makes a Poppy donation too, which is a good charity to support. The service via mail is always prompt, and I have not had any problems dealing with Coventry BS.

Had our on-line easy access savings account with Coventry BS for a few years, no problems with anything, ever. I normally shop around and swop accounts regularly to get the best interest rate, but Coventry comes out consistently top so wouldn't dream of changing. Good security, easy to access, queries always resolved swiftly and courteously. Very pleased so will remain a loyal customer unless they do something stupid!

The Coventry Building Society have recently launched a 3 year fixed interest bond at 2.4% gross rate. This is one of the best rates currently available and appears in some best rate tables. I have been a customer of the Coventry Building Society for some years and they often offer some of the best rates of interest on their products. However, these bonds are frequently oversubscribed and are then withdrawn from offer. I hold a similar bond issued a couple of years ago and the offer was only there for a few weeks. A small amount of interest (0.15%) over and above the rate paid to depositors is paid to The Royal British Legion as a donation hence the name of the bond. Since it is extremely difficult to get an interest rate that not only beats the current rate of inflation after tax going forward most savings products guarantee a reduction in the value of savings. Many savings institutions only offer 2% gross if invested for 5 years. If you are over 65 (which I am not) from January the government through NSI has announced that it will launch a new product that will allow investment up to £20,000. Rates could be as high as 4% gross for a 3 year fixed rate bond and 2.8% for a 1 year bond. Details will not be finalised until December but if the rates are this attractive these bonds will probably be oversubscribed on their first day of issue.

I researched online comparing loads of different products and at the time the rate was quite competitive. All savings accounts have falling rates unless you are prepared to lock money away for years which I'm not. The rate is average at the moment, I'm hoping to get a better rate in time.Coventry has a very secure log in which can be a pain but at least I'm less likely to get hacked which is good.

I have/had 2 ISAs with Coventry. First the good - some building societies have a painful application process but theirs was fairly straightforward and quick. The initial products that I took out paid best in market interest rates but only for fixed periods. The bad - not flexible with transfers in and a very short window in which to add new money which meant it was difficult to max the products out. Their website is very poor and one of the most frustrating that I have had to deal with - it may be more secure, but I sometimes find it so hard to access (unintelligible username, password and grid card) that I get locked out or I give up because I can't find where the various pieces of information I need are. It just defeats the purpose.

Account was very easy to set up as all done online. Once set up, the security measures are more long winded than most companies with passwords and grid keys, but having said that I feel more confident in these measures than just using a password. I have a charity account which means that I am able to give to a good cause whilst saving - although the interest rate reflects that I guess. The rate of my account has been dropping lately and I need to consider other savings options but based on my experiences with Coventry Building Society I would definitely look at other options within this company.

Online access. User friendly website. Helps fund a worthwhile charit.

very helpful and friendly staff. staff give advice on products and the best one for you. we paid a bill through the savings account, it took some time to set up but the staff remained helpful and not rushing. Always plenty of staff on duty so the waiting is kept to a minimum. You can make appointment to see an advisor regarding other saving accounts i.e. bonds.

Always friendy, open Saturdays, very helpful with a wide range of financial products, competitive, seem to be in small towns as well as large making them much more accessible to more people and in more places. Provide a very wide range of products at competitive rates and savings rates are also competitive. No hard sell. Has own website and offers internet access to accounts if required, ie internet banking. Customer service is alway excellent

Coventry Building Society Telephone Saver account.

Found product on Internet. Had a great introductory rate which was lowered after first year, then lowered again. However the present rate is comparable with other savings accounts at 1.5% so I have left it there. As far as I know they still have a telephone saver account but the rate is now lower than it was when I applied. Easy to apply and although it's a telephone saver account it can be accessed online. They have very good security measures online (although it takes a bit longer!)

Good introductory rate

won't allow me to add any more to it now :-(
