E&L-policy looks great but fails to deliver

They are great-until you need to claim. And quite frankly, what's the point of an insurance compnay that don't pay out?!

They ignore phone calls and emails, they loose paper work, they keep asking for different bits of paperwork because they don't come on headed paper (!), they don't listen/answer questions and take ages to pay out and you have to go through this ridiculous process over and over again if your pet has a long term condition as you can't just put in 1 claim! Plus, if you do put in a claim for a long term condition they then send you a massive list of exclusions for things that are totally unrelated (and that's based on the vets opinion!)

Cheap

Getting work out of them is like getting blood out of a stone!

Very good product but could have faster customer service.

We have held E & L pet insurance for umpteen years. The top insurance premium offers comprehensive cover for your pet for accidents and also should your pet contract a long term illness (Diabetes or a similar lifelong disease) they are also covered. This gives us peace of mind and between our family members we hold insurance for 4 dogs in all. Recently we needed to make a claim after 7 years for one of our pets and although you have to pay the veterinary fees up front until E & L start to process the claim, the claim was sorted. This was where the company loses marks though and despite many telephone calls and our downloading of the claim form and immediate return to the company they dragged their feet. A good product but not everyone is in a position to pay for veterinary treatment up front at the start of treatment and it was hard to get E & L to move quickly on claim. a request to speak to someone higher resulted in a quicker customer service reaction. Worth the money for peace of mind should a pet ever become I'll with a long term illness. There aren't many insurance companies who offer this type of policy and the cost is not extortionate but quite reasonable.

Can cover pet life long illness.

Extremely slow customer service.

Very Poor on Claims Settlements

If you want a company that settles a pet insurance claim quickly my advice it DO NOT use this company. After waiting nearly 3 month for my first claim to be settled I thought maybe this is just a one off case but how wrong I was. After reading many reviews all experiencing the same problem and waiting another 3 months for my 2nd claim to be settled I would recommend paying a little extra and going to another pet insurance company.

Cheap Pet Insurance

Waiting months for claim settlements

Rapid price increases

I have two dogs ages 4 and 5, both insured as pups with the same company. Within months of signing up I noticed my premium increase. When I queried I was advised I had upgraded. It transpired a voucher booklet they had sent me, which I took little notice of and certainly had no use for, was apparently an agreement to upgrade or return. I returned this but each time I look its increased by £1.00. My premium started at £9 per month and now a few years later is £20 per month per dog. As soon as I have time I will be shopping around again

rapid increase in prices with no warning

Be very careful of the excess

With an £85 + 35% of the remaining bill excess on their policy's it meant that my claim for £818 only reimbursed me £432. ( They disallowed an x-ray interpretation free) my 10/04/2015 claim has on only just been paid on 15/07 !!! I have tried on several occasions to telephone the claims dept, only to get an automated message to email them! I am looking now to change to a different company.

high excess and poor claims handling
