Section 1 - VETERINARY FEES What is covered Reasonable and customary charges for Treatment of Your Pet by a Vet or Complementary Treatment carried out under their direction by a member of a professional organisation up to the Maximum Benefit during the Period of Insurance The cost of treatment for training and behavioural Illness carried out by a member of a professional organisation acting under the direction of a Vet How much we will pay Up to the Maximum Benefit shown in the Schedule of Insurance per Period of Insurance What is not covered 1.1 For pets under the age of 8 years at the time of Treatment the first £60 of each Illness or injury that is treated per Period of Insurance For pets over the age of 8 years at the time of Treatment the greater of £60 or 15% of the remainder of the cost of Treatment 1.2 More than the Maximum Benefit per Period of Insurance 1.3 Costs resulting from Treatment Your Vet recommends to prevent an Illness or injury 1.4 Cost resulting from dentistry that is not related to an Illness or injury and costs arising from dentistry unless routine dental care has been provided as advised by Your Vet 1.5 Costs resulting from killing or controlling fleas, general health enhancers and unconventional or unlicensed treatment 1.6 Obesity diets. Clinical diets after the first 4 weeks of a specific Illness 1.7 Costs resulting from vaccinations, spaying, castration, and pregnancy or giving birth 1.8 Complementary Treatments and alternative treatments that are not carried out under the direction of a Vet 1.9 Cost of house calls unless the Vet confirms that moving Your Pet would damage its health 1.10 Extra costs of treating Your Pet outside normal surgery hours unless the Vet considers an emergency consultation is necessary 1.11 Costs that result from an Illness or injury specifically excluded on the Schedule of Insurance 1.12 Costs resulting from sex hormonal problems unless directly resulting from a valid claim 1.13 A Recurring Condition unless You have paid the premiums to keep the insurance in force 1.14 Costs for treatment after the last day of the Period of Insurance unless a further period is agreed 1.15 The cost of having Your Pet cremated, buried or otherwise disposed of 1.16 Clinical diets unless shown as included in Your Schedule of Insurance 1.17 Any claim for an Illness or injury that exceeds 12 months from the first date of Treament if You have selected this cover option and it is shown as Operative in Your Schedule of Insurance. How to make a claim Before Your Pet is treated check that Your Vet is willing to complete the claim form and supply Us with the supporting invoices. The claim form must be signed by Your Vet and by yourself and indicate to whom We should make the payment. The form and invoices must be returned to Us promptly If You ask Us to pay Your Vet You must settle the element of the claim for which You are responsible. If You are unsure of the amount please email or call Our claims helpline If Your claim involves Complementary Treatment the claim form and invoices must be countersigned by Your Vet | |||
