Pensions are long term investments. You may get back less than you originally paid in because your capital is not guaranteed and charges may apply.

Scottish Widows Pension Reviews

A Good Company to be with

Quality of product
Getting to the right department
Recommended by hburto

The product is what I would expect of a pension. Sorting out was easy and trouble free. Contact was efficient and pleasant. Nice friendly staff. Hardly any waiting time each time I have phoned. Getting to the right department was a bit of a problem at times, but nothing to much. I would highly reccommend them. Fast regular payments on time.

good communications and seems to run smoothly

good communication

This is a workplace pension so most of the administration was done for me and I have never spoken to them directly. However, I receive frequent notifications and information so I have no excuse for not knowing what is happening with my pension. In addition, they send me annual estimates of what it might be worth at retirement (depressing figures at the moment). Overall I think the schemes are well run and they keep customers informed. There is a website and phone number so you can contact them if needed and I believe they have some benefits with partners but I have not taken too much notice up until now... Maybe I should go check it out!

I'm not entirely sure but my work place enrolled me into this scheme. I'm assuming they checked all of them and this was the best one to go with. I don't mind becasue I think it is good to have a pension. I haven't heard anything negative about them, nor have i looked anything up, it's just easier for the companies to sort these things out for me.

Good Pensions

Best advice my father gave me over 25 years ago was to get a private pension and went with Scottish Widows........gave me a guaranteed annuity which is no longer availiable I believe but seems to be doing well as a company still ......won't let me increase my monthly payment now for obvious reasons but look forward to retirement in 15 years time!!!!

Good customer representative

A guy came to our office to enrol us in our pensions and he did a great job with me! Being a younger person I hadn't looked into pensions yet and didn't have any real idea of how they worked, how much I should be putting in, what the different types were, etc. He was very patient and spent a lot of time explaining the merits and pitfalls of each approach. Veryml much appreciated.

Company Pension Schemes

I have a few different company pension schemes with Scottish Widows. I have never had to go through the process of deciding who to go with as that was done for us. However, I have always found Scottish Widows helpful on the rare occasion I have needed to talk to them. Despite leaving the company with which I was a member of the scheme 20 years ago I am always kept updated about any changes.

Scottish Widows Pension

Automatic set up
Low cost
Recommended by louisemcd3

I have access to a company scheme where my employer also makes a contribution to the pension. I was automatically entered into it so don't have any direct experience of Scottish Widows' customer service. I like the ease of which it was set up though and so far it has run very smoothly. The information they provide is simple to follow and it seems to be fairly low cost. You can pay into it irregularly, so not just from your monthly income but larger, one-off sums whenever you might happen to have a windfall, should you be so lucky!

The absolute best pension provider

by vinniev2, 5 days ago
Recommended by vinniev2

Scottish Widows is the absolute best pension provider on the market, in my opinion. I opened my account in 2006 and the value of my pot is almost double what I have deposited over the course of the next 8+ years. I cannot comment on the annuities as I am several decades away from retirement, but definitely as a fund manager they're great.

I have been with Scottish Widows for many years managed through a broker. They seem to perform well giving me increases in value month and month with the odd blip along the way. Their statements are easy to follow and the customer services in based in the UK and are very helpful if you should call.
