I have found that, although Scottish Widows only supplies one small Pension for me, I have always found them to be fair and reasonable on every occasion that I have needed to contact them. All questions are answered carefully and succinctly, with care being taken to ensure that my questions were answered. The answers come quickly so that no time is lost when I am concerned about anything.

My work pension has recently transferred over to Scottish Widows. I have had no problems with them at all and they have been very good through the changeover process. One of their staff came to speak to us at the workplace to go over all the new points of our new plan. I do not feel I have had the pension long enough to comment further.

I have not had much experience dealing with this company, but has had no problems at all. So have been paying in for around three years, easily deducted from my salary with no compilations. My employer also matches what I pay in too. I would recommended this company to any of my family of friends simply because of ease of use and no complications.

I think that Scottish Widows do the best pension plans not that I'm an expert by any means. This pension was originally through my old job but to be honest I never really had any dealings with them so can't comment on their customer service. They do send out regular statements and information but I'm not very clued up on pension plans. Due to health reasons I had to give up my job but Scottish Widows gave me the option of continuing to pay into my pension on my own which I thought was a great idea so I have been doing this, obviously I no longer get any company paying in but at least I'll have a pension of some sort when I retire.

The product is what I would expect of a pension. Sorting out was easy and trouble free. Contact was efficient and pleasant. Nice friendly staff. Hardly any waiting time each time I have phoned. Getting to the right department was a bit of a problem at times, but nothing to much. I would highly reccommend them. Fast regular payments on time.

I took out an annuity with a company called age partnership which did all the work for me and found that Scottish Widows offered the best annuity for me I would totally recommend this company and now that I am with Scottish Widows I know that my pension is in good hands. Any problems and I can talk with an advisor and my questions are sorted out professionally

I have a pension arranged through my workplace and honestly, I still don't really understand it that much. The initial Q&A session we had with a member of Scottish Widows was good, but I feel there was limited help following this. I'm not even sure how much pension I'm paying compared to my hourly rate, which changes monthly!

This seems as good as any & I see no need to move o0ut. A little bit hard to tell 'til I come to retire! I am not financially minded so the figures are not especially informative for me. I own to feeling a little nervous re the eventual outcome. My mother has done very well from this firm. Customer service seems fine on the rare occasions when we use it. We also gain shares every year which is a bonus.

Contracting out of SERPS

I have a personal/private pension. The reason I transferred my pension plan from was to benefit from lower fees, as per a review from an independent financial advisor. However, I have since received a letter in June 2014, telling me that although I requested to contract out of SERPS in 2007 and they wrote to me to confirm they had done this. They are now saying that this action was not completed and have asked me to complete forms and provide further information to initiate whether they need to compensate me for not contracting me out of SERPS when I originally requested.

First thing is do not delay in starting a pension, the earlier you can start the better in order to build up a reasonable pension pot because no-one will be able to live of the state pension and have the same standard of living as they do when they are working. Also you should check out all the pension providers and pension schemes to see which company has the best track record and provides the best payment on retirement. You should join the company pension scheme if they have one. The product was found for me by my employers. Customer service seems fine and I get regular updates on the value of my pension pot.
