Viva Aviva - Critical illness life cover

I have taken out critical illness and life cover for the duration of my mortgage. The monthly payments are reasonable offering reassurance that should any serious illness come my way, my finances will not suffer. The range of illnesses or conditions covered is reasonable. Of course I am worth more dead than alive but then again, won't be around to care! It cheered my son up.

What you cover is what you pay for

With any life insurance you need to be honest and get it as young as you can. If you smoke, as I do, tell them. The cost is very fair and the company just takes the fee and you just hope you don't need to claim. Would I recommend them, yes, why, they have been around in various forms for an eternity. I want them to still be around for a bit longer than me. No brokers, no cheap fly by nits. Stick with specialist, you will get a good deal because they know how to work out risks fairly. Now let's be honest the balance of probability is against them. The odds on your death is certainty, so they just gamble on when. Plain talking, easy company that works away in the background to give you a quiet peace of mind that they are safe hands to trust when you need them to support your family.

My review of Aviva

This is my first time getting life insurance for my partner and I as we have just bought a house I have never used it but the deal we got was good as my partner is also in the armed forces so finding life insurance can be hard. The customer service we received has been very good as when dealing with staff on the phone they have been very friendly and helpful.

Aviva Life Insurance

We took this product out along side our mortgage through a mortgage broker. It probably wasn't the cheapest but it was the one he recommended. It was a very thorough process which didn't allow me to get critical illness insurance due to some outstanding medical issues but was straightforward on the life insurance. Not had any reason to contact customer services.

It is just another insurance policy

Insurance is like gambling. The house always wins. It is always best to be more in credit than debit, but if you cannot AND if someone else will suffer by your debts in the event of your death than insurance is a necessary evil and one that has oft been miss sold. If you do need it then buy the least you need from the cheapest source available at the time and keep an eye on the rates in case you can reduce your losses. Aviva was cheaper than the company we were using so we changed. Hopefully, we will never find out what it is like trying to squeeze money out of them
