Questions related to Income Protection Insurance

Hello money friends :) Does anyone know if you can get income protection if you are self-employed?

I have been self-emp since Aug 2011. It might sound mad, but I don't technically know how much I 'earn' as not done end of year accounts with all the allowances and deductions taken into account, so really have no idea (other than very little!) what my actual income would be.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas, as OH has income protection and is due to be redundant, but just worrying if my income is lost also at some point when he is, as I won't be entitled to JSA as I only pay the Self-Emp NI Contributions. Thanks in advance :)

Thank Bonz - that's what I thought, that you wouldn't be able to get it :( Will just have to hope for the best I think!

I know what I am 'paid' each week, but then I have to buy food for the kids, have travelling costs, equipment costs, can claim for some of my elec/gas/water ... and a few other things like professional membership fees etc.... it is just mind boggling sometimes! Will be interesting to see what the accountant makes of it when I see her at some point!

Roll on January when I have to do my first self-assessment!!!
