Privilege home insurance - dreadful

It's an old adage - you get what you pay for. Having never claimed before I tired of renewing with my increasing expensive insurer and went for the cheapest option I could find. Big mistake. I reported a leak to them on the 25th June and I can't be bothered going through the many many stages of claiming, needless to say it's now the 21st July and we still have the leak pouring money down the drain and I'm waiting on someone to get back to me within the promised hour.

Cooker claim - last weekend my cooker broke and the top and bottom doors exploded

Customer Service at Privilege was lovely - they were extremely helpful - then I went into panic mode when I read the reviews on here as they were not good.

My experience has been nothing but excellent from the moment I made the call for accidental damage on my cooker when glass shattered on both the top and bottom ovens. The lovely lady I spoke to on Saturday last week was more concerned if my mum was injured first which was nice.

I had to wait a few days to check the claim was ok and details etc then had a call back to say that direct validations would ring me with a replacement. The call came within 30 minutes and a cooker replacement was ordered. I now have a new cooker coming next week to be fitted and everything so thank you so much for the lovely customer care and fast action in sorting out my claim.

For anyone thinking of insurance with this company with the negative reviews I wouldn't take it out on them as they have provided an excellent service in my book - thank you so much Privilege.

Absolutely appalling claim handling!

Got a cheap deal on contents insurance and was initially very happy considering the branding makes out there will be a first class service provided.

All went drastically wrong after there was a very serious leak in my home and several months later the issue is still not resolved.

It took two months to get any money sent to me to replace the bedding/mattress (God knows what they thought I was going to sleep on during this time!) and even more weeks down the line I am still without carpets or a sofa.

Nobody is responsible for handling your claim or progressing it at all, it all hangs on you constantly ringing them up to ask them to do the next thing on the list. They use 'Independent' inspectors to check your damaged items, which would be fair enough apart from they seem to constantly want to replace your items with inferior alternatives.

Overall, you get what you pay for. I am seriously out of pocket having had to pay the excess, pay towards upgrading the cheap replacements offered and also the hundreds of pounds I have spent calling this company and their inspectors trying to get them to do their job. Not a company you want to have to rely on in a crisis.

Cheap. Did replace some items without quibbling cost.

Terrible customer service, extremely slow claim handling,

Privilege home and contents insurance

They seem OK. Their renewal notice was cheaper by far than the other companies I contacted, which doesn't happen very often.

Privilege insurance provides usual standard insurance

Privilege sets out to provide above standard insurance and promises a lot, but in my view is not really any better than most of the competition.

Ease of setup.

Does not fulfil its many promises. Customer relations poor.
