Price not bad but not worth switching for awful customer service

I joined FirstUtility because at the time they offered the best deal for my needs. They promptly discontinued the tariff I was on to one equivalent to my previous energy company. left FirstUtility a year ago and despite contacting the home movers department and giving them my final meter readings, I continued to be billed and even threatened with damaged credit ratings by an external agency. I have spent many hours queueing or on hold, listening to the same 30 seconds of dreadful music on a loop, to be falsely assured that the problem will be resolved. FirstUtility staff frequently deny what is written in my records (until at my insistence they eventually acknowledge what is written on their own computer), and never follow with promised actions. I am still waiting for my account to be closed. If I knew this utilities company would be so unprofessional, I would not touch them with a bargepole.

First utility Gas & Electric

Seems to be a reasonable company to deal with, though I've not had to contact them very often. They offered a 2 year fixed price deal which is why I signed up.

A new kid on the block but worth a look

Decided to go for their cheapest offering fixed until 31/12/13. Handy to only pay for what you use rather than set monthly DD although that does sometimes appeal.

Pay for what you use every month

Customer service could be slicker

First utility gas

I switched earlier this year to a dual fuel fixed rate until 2014. Everything is done online including a monthly meter reading. As long as the rate remains competitive I am happy to stay with them
