I have had a current acccount with Nationwide for many years, and have never had any if the problems that have been associated with the banks in recent years. Nationwide is building society, so not focused on making profits for their shareholders. Another big plus, is that their call centre is in Britain and any problem has been resolved the first time without being transferred all round.

For me Nationwide are fantastic, I have been with them since I was a child and have continued with them as an adult. I pay no fees, I get full internet banking, it's a Visa direct debit card and is so easy to use. There are never any problems and their customer service is fantastic, whether it's online, on the phone or in branch. Would definitely recommend every time!

My husband and I have had accounts with Nationwide for over 15years and we've never had a problem. Their helpful both in branch and on the phone and their on-line banking is great. I've never bothered checking if their rates are the best, as I wouldn't change to another account as getting a great service, a branch on the highstreet and decent opening times is more important

Saw an advert for it, offers various benefits for £10 per month Includes breakdown cover, mobile phone cover, travel insurance amongst other benefits. I've only been in it a couple of months and not had any need to make claims or really use the benefits. It has saved me money as I have been able to cease other insurances and there is peace of mind too

If you want a bank that cares about its customers then Nationwide is for you. I do most of my banking in the branch and it's feels good to be greeted by name when I visit. Nevertheless they are scrupulous with security checks which is very reassuring. My branch is a friendly place with excellent service, even on a busy Saturday morning.

Nationwide's Flexaccount provides a cheque book, credit and debit cards and free European Travel insurance with no charges. They helped me rearrange my mortgage, so that I could overpay and ended up with a surplus at the end of the term and so I trust their advice. They have offered me interest-bearing accounts but these do not suit me, since I will soon be retiring and our household income will fall. Flexibility is what I need and I can do all my banking online.

Easy online banking

May not always be free.

I got a Nationwide current account because I'd always banked with them. I switched to one that doesn't let you access staff in the bank itself: you have to do online banking, use cash machines, or telephone banking. I did this most of the time anyway, partly because there were so few staff available, and because the bank didn't open convenient hours. I also wanted to earn interest on my in-credit balance, and this account pays 5% for a year on balances, up to a set amount. However, I do think that I'll switch after a year when I no longer earn interest. It frustrates me when banks and building societies give an introductory rate: I think it's a bit dishonest, and doesn't inspire me to be loyal to them in the future. There are other bank accounts that pay interest and don't stop you using the services of branches, so my time with this account is limited.

I've had a current account with Nationwide for approximately 17 years and have never had a problem. I also have one of their e-savings accounts which had a good rate of interest and again is no problem. You can easily transfer money into and out of the e-savings account to/from the current account. Generally a good account

I have held a Nationwide Flexaccount/current account for 30 plus years and feel I get very good customer service. Branches are local and staff are polite. Their communication is good. I like the online banking service and the Nationwide app. Their products are inline with up-to-date and trending services, though I would like to see more for customer loyalty. I would recommend Nationwide current account, and have done in the past.
