Super account and value for money

This account we pay a monthly fee of £12.75 but for that we get free travel insurance worldwide for both of us, breakdown cover on both cars and mobile phone insurance on both mobiles. Also if you keep between £5-£6 in the account you get 4%.

Customer Service & quality perks.
Pathetic interest on even large sums. Open a linked Savings A/c.

Outstanding service with plenty of included perks, all of which we utilise and which in total would cost far more if purchased separately. Cost is ?40-/month, unless you invest a minimum of ?100k with Lloyds Asset Management. Offers an AMEX linked to Avios but it costs ?250-/annum although it does have a huge credit limit. I would suggest getting a BA AMEX; costs less and offers more miles/? spent.

Customer service is 24/7/365 and during working hours is normally answered within 2 rings from the Mayfair Branch here in the UK!!! Out of hours is also a UK based call-centre. No problem is too small or too large, so if you are looking for Private Banking, I highly recommend Lloyds, but just be advised that if you do take the Lloyds AMEX, out of hours cannot help you with enquiries as Mayfair have introduced an increased level of security.

Trouble-free account
Very low interest rate given on balance in account.

I've had a current account with Lloyds TSB for about twenty years. No real problems and hence no need to try and contact their customer services, so not really fully tested. The account upgrades need to be checked out as for example the AA vehicle emergency service sounds good but only covers relatively new vehicles,
You can break down your monthly spend under different headings like mortgage, holiday fund, groceries etc but I find this quite time consuming and not very user friendly. It would be good to see what your annual expenditure on each of your chosen categories is but unless you archive them monthly you cannot do this. It is not done automatically.
Lloyds are also very quick to charge interest for a minimal overdraw even though I have an gareed overdraft limit. On average I have over ?1000 in my account most of the time but recently overdrew just before payday and immedaitely received a ?5 fixed charge and an interest charge on to.
Staff in the local bank and also with random phone calls want me to discuss my savings, morgage or insurance arrangements with them. I decline but they do not accept this politely.

Internet access is fairly straight forward but still based on password and remembered word code.

Have been with them for over 40 years since leaving School. Like the fact I can go into my local Branch and speak with someone. Glad they are moving out of TSB

everything outlined
too long to answer any queries on the phone

standard account but easy to understand and use online. setting up payment arrangements can be awkward if you dont have a good reception for your mobile in the house.
