To be eligible for Payment Protection the cardholder must be: - the first named on the application, - aged between 18 and 64, - employed for at least 16 hours per week in the UK (or on statutory maternity leave) or self-employed, and - unaware of any impending unemployment. Provided that the cardholder was working or, where applicable on statutory maternity leave, and are unable to work due to disability for 30 consecutive days or, if they become unemployed for 30 consecutive days the insurer will credit the account with 10% of the outstanding balance at the calculation date or £10, whichever is the greater (subject to a maximum of £500 per month for Classic Cardholders and £750 per month for Gold Cardholders and £1,000 per month for Platinum Cardholders). Payments will continue to be made until disability or unemployment ceases, 12 monthly payments have been made, or they return to work or cover ends, whichever happens first. Customers' claims will be paid based on the balance of their account on the date they stop working, due to unemployment or illness. In the event of death the balance outstanding on the agreement at the calculation date will be repaid, up to a maximum of £5,000 for Classic Cardholders and £7,500 for Gold Cardholders and £10,000 for Platinum Cardholders.collapse
