American Express is not accepted in as many places as MasterCard and visa as it is too expensive to the seller. I use the card however as it is excellent forvAirmiles and also they are very good if you should have a problem with any retailer for they act quickly and fairly on your behalf. They also refund the amount concerned whilst the problem is being sorted and resolved.
Can have some great promotions but lack of balance transfer offers and uncompetitive APR ensures that this is one card you don't want to run up a significant amount on. The card also isn't accepted as widely as others so you need to ensure you have back up. It's more of a 'nice to have' card rather than one you'd want to be using extensively.
Would recommend this card as it pays a good interest on purchases. Also can pay each month outstanding balance that way no interest is due.Keeps us up to date with all charges and any changes they might make. Gives alerts on my phone when any purchase is made and when payment is due. All done on line. Customer service excellent. Can check statement every month even tells me of purchases that are pending.
Pays a good interest rate no charges for this card
I really love my AmEx card, and do as much of my spending on it as possible. The main reason for this is the absolutely fantastic AmEx Rewards scheme: I redeem mine for Net-a-Porter vouchers, which have been a lovely treat!
The interest rates are relatively high compared to others in the market, but I pay mine off monthly, so these don't bother me.
There is the ability to easily manage the account online, which I really like, and I also use the iPhone app.
American Express gives really good service - they have good people on the phone. I credit their commercial strength with improving my experience with service providers.
The travel insurance has good winter sport cover and the unlimited lounge access is great. It's great to get rewards points, and the range of rewards is really good.
