What I have is no longer available due to problems caused for some savers by advice given and since then things have changed a lot. I have gained on my savings which was a pleasant surprise. Not sure what ways to save are available now but I think they're less risky than they used to be so if anyone wants to go for it then do

I was never good at saving but with Santander they showed me what I could do with a savings account. Save for the future, save a for rainy day. The customer service over the phone and in the branch is always 100% the best. I will always use Santander as I believe there products and services are the best. I've since been able to save thanks to the wonderful people at Santander.

I switched with high expectations, but the transfer was difficult, payment were missed, I incurred missed payment fees, and I never received my £100 switching fee. They even convinced me to put money in a high interest account, for a very short period, which was no help what so ever. Since then things have settled, on-line banking ok, but service used is pretty minimal. No interest, and no products used. I am considering moving account now that transferring is easier.

When my bank transferred to Santander my rent mandate was out in at completely the wrong amount and nearly made me lose my home, and they also caused me issues with all my Direct debits, the customer service at the time was appaling. Don't expect them to be sympathetic with any issues caused by them or sort it out at any speed. I'd say to anyone to not bother with them

I've been with Santander for a long time, a very long time. They are a great company with superb customer service. My current account bank card was eaten by a cash machine in Barcelona. I immediately phone Santander and the woman I spoke to kept me calm and assured me everything would be ok, and they even offered to send me money if I needed it. Which I didn't. I will always stay with Santander because of the customer service. I think you're thinking of applying then phone them, they're always there to help

Easy to set up the account and in combination with a Santander current account you can instantly transfer money from one account to the other. If you transfer too little or too large an amount you can instantly transfer the excess/extra back to either account. Never had any problems with both Internet access and using tha app on my mobile phone.

Instant access and transfer to current account

Like all savings accounts at the moment low interest rates

Santander Everyday Current Account

I give Santander a much lower rating for their Everyday Current Account than I give for their other accounts because it no longer seems to be good value for money. I have held this account for a very long time, hence it is too much work to close it completely so I keep it open and simply move any money out of it as soon as it comes in. The good thing about it is that it does not charge a monthly fee to run, so it does not cost anything, but it gives virtually no interest, so it is much better to have money paid in either to the Santander 1-2-3 account or to another bank. So I would not recommend this account to anyone, unless they keep very little money in it.

It costs nothing to run

In the past few years Santander's customer service record has been very poor (from personal experience) Now they have definitely turned things around, full circle. They take time to sort out any problems with your account and follow through from start to finish. 100 per cent improvement from a year ago. The staff in the local branch are very attentive and pleasant to deal with.

Although a current account with all the usual protections and facilities, this is also the best way of maximising return on savings up to [for a couple] £60000. 3% interest for sums between 1K and 20K is just about unbeatable. Factor in the additional cashback savings on, for instance, fuel, mortgage payments and direct debit mandates and the benefit will be significant. There are of course internet banking facilities which are backed by a large high street presnce made larger by the amalgamation of 3 brands.

I have been with Santander for a few years and have not had any major problems with them although I have had to call customer services a few times and it can sometimes be very busy so takes a while to get through! On a couple of occasions I have found the customer service advisers to be quite rude and aburpt and can take a while to resolve your query.
