Santander's success comes from having firm banking principles; a retail banking focus, a prudent approach to lending, sensible capital ratios and spreading risk across geographical areas. In 2008 they were the worlds third most profitable bank. Santander is already helping millions of customers in the UK through branches of Abbey, Bradford & Bingley and Alliance & Leicester. With such solid foundations, customers of Santander can be confident their money is in safe hands.

I have used the credit card for about 7 years. Have had my balance increased for being good with my payments. Interest rates are fairly reasonable. Nothing much on offer for customer rewards though. Another Santander account I would switch to their 123 at my first opportunity. Have to type as stupid review section gives a mandatory minimum character limit which means it is wasting your time reading this, as well as mine by having this extra stuff written.

Santander Savings account

I use a Santander savings account, as it was an empty account I had from years previous. I try to save a portion of my wages every week in this account when possible. The account does't really have any features I am aware of that make it stand out in the market. I do have an overdraft facility on the account. The interest on using the overdraft is charged at £1 per day for a maximum of 20 days per month, I find it quite pricey and have tried to use the overdraft facility as little as possible in the past. I think Santander probably offer better types of accounts for savings, I am however put off by asking for information on them, as I find the customer service agents in my particular branch to be quite pushy when it comes to additional products, I have no interest in.

I manage my current account on line which gives me 24 hour access to my money and the re-designed website is now very easy to use. I receive a good rate of interest on my savings that are held in the accoiunt as well as cash interst on the direct debit payments I make. This more than covers the monthly charge of £2. Any queries that I might have can also be dealt with by a very friendly and efficient telephone service.

We have had a lot of cash back with Santander, 3% on fuel is certainly worth having as is the cash back for utility bills and shopping. Although it was a bit of a bother to open a current account to link the credit card payments to it also pays good interest 3%. Good deal all round. I would recommend this to anyone who has used their ISA allowence and has a bit of extra cash that they would like to earn interest on.

I have been with Santander (and it's previous incarnation National Giro) since the 1970s. I can access my money at any time from any cash machine and even at the local Post Office. It has all the features every other current account does like standing orders and bank transfers etc so I can use it for paying my bills either manually or automatically. I can use my debit card online or in store to make purchases. I can transfer money as one off or regular payments to a person or company simply by filling in the details online and adding the confirmation number they will send me by text to my mobile. Basic transfer payees can be removed simply by deleting them but Direct Debits need to be removed by phoning and speaking to an operative. I can choose to be able to access my bank account from my mobile phone. When I have needed to contact them by phone the staff have always been courteous, friendly and helpful You can also apply for credit cards and loans and any other services you would expect from a bank.

You will need to change accounts regularly to get higher interest rates as interest rates drop off after 1year. I found product on their web page as I had a current scvount with them to start with. Customer service is fine though I rarely use it. I have no real need as I do all my banking online which they offer. You can get free accounts with them which is ways a plus ask hate paying monthly charges for bank accounts.

Great value with getting cash back on petrol and shopping, around the same interest rate as others. Not using any cards at present but would certainly use them for any large puchase in future, and can watch balances when doing other banking. They don't madden you with short term offers either, whereas other cardsmail us pretty much every week. I think we could get honest answers quickly if we needed them

I had a few customer service issues where I had to deal with the customer service both in brand and over the phone and after a few days they did get resolved with suitable compensation being awarded. The online banking is simple and easy to use and even though my partner and I share a current account and have our own current accounts and credit cards we can both access what we need online. The branches local to us have recently undergone refurbishment so they are nice and modern. The only downside for us is that we both work 6 days a week between 8 and 6 so we often don't manage to get to the bank in time and I can imagine for future appointments we will have to book quite a while in advance and ask for a special late appointment.

I have banked with Santander one way or another for a number of years, since my first savings account when I was a child. The 123 Current account is a good product on the whole, you do pay for the account, but the savings we make month to month by having it make it worthwhile. When transferring my current account over to a 123 account, the customer service i received in branch was ok. All of my queries were answered and I was assured that the account fee would not go up, as this was my main concern. One aspect of the customer service experience I didn't like was that the member of staff kept pushing a Santander credit card, so much so that in the end I agreed to one, despite not wanting one. In addition to this, the credit application was rejected, leaving me quite cross, as I wasn't really interested in the credit card anyway.

I have had numerous accounts with Santander ranging from Isa,s to normal savings accounts and a bank account with credit cards . I have always used Santander for various savings accounts and have been totally happy with the level of service over the years, I have always been kept upto date with savings rates on offer and on the odd occasion when i have had to deal with customer services they have been really helpful and have sorted out the problem and kept me upto date with the outcome
