I have had various RBS accounts through the years. RBS is the financial rock most of Britain is built on. My current account is built into a mortgage product that used to belong to Virgin and was sold to RBS. I love my current account as it feeds my mortgage (beast) and suites my needs. RBS staff members are helpful - what more can we ask for.

This royal bank savings account does not pay the highest rate of interest but links in well with my RBS current account. Moving money between savings account and current account is very easy via the online banking service. It is also able to set up savings goals, working out how much you need to save each month in order to hit your target.

Would transferred to RBS when the Clydesdale bank closed in Penicuik. We chose RBS because they offer offset mortgage facilities, which In Our experience has been an excellent product. I would highly recommend it. The multiple accounts which can be attached to the flexible mortgage help keep money in specific areas I.e, savings, maintenance, housing costs, car expenses, really helps you to budget and the on line banking makes it so easy to move money between accounts without making a trip to the bank and standing in a long que. I find it more than a little frustrating that when you phone your branch you get through to a call centre and would like to have a little more personalised service but on the whole I am satisfied. At least the call centre is based in Britain.

Flexible mortgage, electronic banking

Branch customer service has been a bit brusque on occasions.

RBS has had a lot of bad press but when it comes to its current account, this is unwarranted. The current account does everything that you want. There is a online banking facility which allows you to pay bills directly. The online service is generally available all day every day. RBS is adding functionality all the time - only today I discovered that I am able to access all of my statements for the past seven years online.

It does what it says it will

This is a first rate account which provides benefits we use regularly. The benefits are significantly greater than the charges and we are also supported by a personal banking manager who is easily contactable and very helpful with any queries

I've had my current account for over 10 years with RBS and have not had any significant issues with them during this time. I use both online and telephone banking and always find the customer service support satisfactory. My app on my phone allows me to quickly check my balance, and I can transfer money easily to regular payees. whenever I need to visit a branch I never have to spend long in a queue and alwasy find the service good. Recently Overdraft bank changes have changed which means I get charged a fixed amount as soon as I enter into the red. I have been used to having a small free overdraft and find this new approach frustrating.
