I had an on line savings account with the PO (operated by the Bank of Ireland) for a couple of years. The telephone service was always a bad. But worse still they recently reduced my interest rate without telling me. When I complained they said it was up to me to read the papers where they had announced it! I closed it immediately and they deduced off the penalty sum of 30 days interest straight away. But I had to write them to have my balance of interest paid! They refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor as it was in internet account and I needed to send an e-mail if I wanted an explanation. I will never ever bank with them again.

I've applied for post office card for my forth coming holiday! The post office asked me to send in documents proving ID, income etc, which I happy did using my wife's accountancy firm to certify the documents! I'm now on my third attempt to get the documents submitted due to the lack of guidance over specific wording. Post office - please make it clear what you exactly want!! Stop wasting people's time!!

I've had two causes to speak with Post Office savings (Bank of Ireland). Firstly I tried to open an account with them for my elderly father. Having completed all the forms and set off a deposit cheque they returned it (3 weeks later) as there was a problem with a cheque (fault of the Halifax it turned out). Rather than allow me to send in another cheque, they cancelled the whole application meaning we had to start from scratch. In the meantime, they withdrew the product leaving me with no option but to open a lower interest account elsewhere. Secondly, trying to withdraw money from a reward saver account. Don't be fooled by the marketing hype about PO's online accounts. Other than look at the balance, you can do nothing online. Further the limit on phone transactions is low, there is a 30 day delay for branch transactions (not mentioned anywhere on the website) and all other correspondence is via letter. I also find out that there 24 hour service was delayed today due to St Patrick's day. The service from the call centre was far from friendly or helpful.

I put all my savings in the Post Office Instant Saver account and regretted it bitterly. Originally I thought it a good idea as it had higher interest rates and it was instant banking - thinking easy access to your money whenever and wherever. However, when the time came for me to pay my property lawyers due to a house move 2-3 weeks before completion, they froze my account for 5 working days (plus an Irish Bank Holiday thrown in there) due to having changed my nominated account and would be guaranteed to be frozen a further 5 working days because the name of the nominated account was not my own. Admittedly, that was a silly mistake I made, but to try and cancel that mistake within an hour of making it proved near impossible! They seemed to be prepared to make me and my family (including two toddlers and three cats) homeless because they would not give me MY money! After numerous number of calls they managed to pay it to another of my accounts a day before completion through CHAPS and charged me £400 withdrawal fees on top of the stress! I am currently attempting to close my account with them, which in turn seems to be taking a very long time in a very long winded manner! I now seem to have no money in my Post Office account and yet I do not seem to obtain the final amount in my other bank account as expected! Where did my money go??? DO NOT USE!

Without Prejudice This organization is the worst I have ever uncounted in fifty years as a private individual and business owner, anyone who uses this company beware, they are in my opinion not fit for purpose, garbage, absolute rubbish, are words that do not do justice to this organization, they could not organize a --- -- in a brewery. anyone who deals with this company does so at their own peril.

I completed the application online. They post it out, telling you to bring it to your local branch. Local branch scratch their head, phone head office, say they can't take it. Eventually do a 30 mile round trip to pay the money in at a branch that will take my money. After head scratching and phone calls, they take my money. Almost 2 weeks after paying my initial deposit £500 at a post office branch, I got a letter saying that they have my money, but did not get the paperwork from the branch. They asked me to complete a duplicate application. No 'sorry for any inconvenience' or anything. Utter incompetence. I dread getting my money back out!
