Misleading description of services offered, very poor customer service, you have 14 days cooling off period, however it took them so long to create the account that I could not cancel it, my money is stuck in this account for a year, would never have any dealings with them again. The website did not fully explain the procedure nor did the customer services, I emailed several times and could believe the time it took them to respond.

Post Office Savings instant access account cannot be accessed! Terrible service

My experience of using Post Office Savings was almost identical to that of reviewer 'chrisg86'! I had an instant access account and was able to deposit monies and access statements however was unable to transfer monies out. I informed PO of this problem via their email which is accessed via the savings account but they failed to get back to me within their stated 3 days. I then phoned them only to be told by the rep that they could not do anything as it appeared to be a technical issue. 5 days later I heard nothing so phoned again only to have the rep tell me the only thing she could do was to again refer the matter to their technical dept. Despite this being an instant access account, the only option left was to close my account via letter and have my monies refunded in full. The Post Office was not even courteous enough to apologise for/ respond to any of the matters raised in my letter, simply sent me a closure statement - absolutely dreadful service; I advise that you avoid like the plague!

I was pleased to be able to buy this investment bond when it was available. It has inflation proofing and a good rate. The PO statements are easy to understand too.

Never ever use Post Office for travel money!

I used my local post office to change GBP to Turkish Lira. The woman rushed me through the transaction and kept giving me calculations that were wildly inappropriate (I asked for £600 in Lira and her initial quote was for an amount equal to £670). After getting to an amount that actually resembled £600 an appalling rate of exchange was applied. The rate was far below even if I had used an airport bureau. As a result, I'm £50 worse off. A complete waste of money and I am kicking myself. Lesson learnt, I will never use the Post Office for foreign exchange again. Don't do it either!

The PO credit card is useful as there are no charges for using it when abroad. The down side is that you cannot ring up and pay your card off over the phone. Also, when you ring up for a query, it is quite tricky to get past the automated system and speak to customer services. I would recommend this card for holidays away.

Free to use abroad

The Post Office deals locally with my Saver Account, Credit Card, Saver Bonds,(NSU) & Premium Bonds. They give the best Foreign currency exchange, keep you up to date with information and offers. I find my local Post Mistress very knowledgeable and will readily offer up to date advice to ensure that you are getting the best rates for your deposits. THEY ARE GENUINELY FRIENDLY AND 10 x BETTER TO DEAL WITH THAN THE BANKS.

Excellent Value. Easy to deal with
