Great company that avoided the financial fallout. Reliable and have had no problems with them. If I need to call them then they are easy to contact and resolve issues quickly. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable account with a bank that is unlikely to go bust. They offer products in their current accounts for nominal fees such as travel insurance and breakdown cover. Nationwide has been recommended by many websites for their great customer service.

I have had 3 Nationwide mortgages going back over a period of 8 years. I have always found the service pretty good and the rates have always been competitive. More recently there have been changes of legislation and the advent of longer consultations to gain acceptance for a mortgage although, I feel the FCA have gone from one extreme to the other, the nationwide consultant was pretty proficient.

I have been with Nationwide for 20+ years and find their range of accounts second to none. Over the years the have brought out special bond accounts for existing customers and don't just concentrate on finding new business and have always kept me up to date regarding interest rates and new products. I have always found the staff friendly whilst keeping a professional air. Overall I have no complaints and would definitely recommend them.

In general, the longer you are a customer, the better the loyalty rates you will receive. As with most banks these days, the more competitive interest rates seem to be available for a year and then drop to a lower rate. I have received 2.5% on an ISA which was competitive, but now the rate has dropped to 1.5%, which is pretty dire. Will have to look around. Depending on how you look at it, one good thing is that it is easy to access your savings money. This was useful for me when I was buying a house and could transfer my money easily between accounts.

loyal customers get better savings rates

Competitive rates drop after a year.

I have never had any problems with Nationwide. They even arranged credit when all other money lenders wouldn't. I can only be happy. The staff are helpful and polite. The interest rate is a little low but this is fine as I cant save for toffee. I have been with them for over ten years and only ever been charged for going overdrawn once. Which was my own fault as I didn't leave enough money to cover my bills.

Easy to Manage account both in store and online. Staff always very knowledgeable and helpfull.plenty of Mortgage information without being over complicated. Savings accounts can be interchanged and the rates are competitive with other providers.I have been with this provider for thirty years and cannot find another that is so much better that Iwould be tempted to change.

When ever I've had a problem with my current account, their staff have always been polite, eager & willing to fix it, not matter what the time of day or night it is, as they have their phones 24 hrs per day. There internet service is safe & easy to use. When they have been unable to fix an issue there & then, they have always rang me back with an update. It's also good that they are an English company & all their call centres are based in England

I've had a savings account with the Nationwide since it took over the Dunfermline Building Society and like my account being moved over so were the Staff from the Branch I used to the Nationwide branch. My account with the Dunfermline was a few years old before the move. When I went into the Dunfermline to open an account the staff took time to talk to me about my needs & reasons for opening an account then suggested two that may have suited me I chose one of them and opened the account. While I had the account the staff told me of other services I could use or they could provide and on occasion suggested I change my account to one that would pay better and would still suit my needs. When I had a problem claiming against insurance that I took out through the branch, They got in touch with the providers to help sort things out. They are always helpful, kind and supportive and I was glad that when "my" branch closed most of the staff moved to the Nationwide branch that was to replace it and am happy to say the good service I had at the Dunfermline has continued.

They are always helpful, kind and supportive

Not keen on the new branch - location & size

I have found them a very good building society with good variety of products and good interest rates. I have two current accounts and a savings account with them. They are also the holders of my children's isas as their rates are the best if you can commit to a long term saving I.e 3 years. Good overdraft facilities, easy internet banking which I use to transfer Money between accounts and pay bills, set up standing orders etc. you get a card machine for added security. Customer service has always been ok although on occasion have had to wait for someone to attend the customer service desk.
