Savings are not easy. I feel there may be more incentives to save but percentage rates are low and Halifax seem more intent on trying to sell loans rather than encourage people to save, which surely is better for the customer. Customer education on money management may be a job in itself but surely better than constant advertising for quick loans.

I've been with Halifax for quite a number of years now and have always received excellent service! I have been Hacked into ( if that's the right word? ) I knew nothing about this till I got a call from the Halifax fraud squad! They were great! They sorted everything out and I never lost a penny! Fantastic service! Great Bank!

I feel confident using online banking - any new payments are verified by telephone call. I find the sign-in procedure easy and yet I think is very safe, In addition, whenever I have needed to contact customer services by telephone advisers have been helpful and polite. I have now been a customer for approximately 15 years and have found no reason to complain. Although I do not use the branch service too often, on the occasions I do, the counter staff are helpful and polite and I never have to wait very long to be served.

I moved to halifax about 5 months ago. I have never had a problem with anything and when my work didn't pay my wages in they agreed to waive the missed direct debit charges. They understood and offered advice as to contacting everyone. The switching period from my old bank was exactly in the timescale they promised and the process was seamless.

I first took out a current account with Halifax, which I did because I had remortgaged with them. It was a joint current account at that time. I have always been happy with Customer Service in my local branch as they have been efficient when I have had to make changes to my account such as taking off a joint account holder or increasing my overdraft. The current account I have is basic, doesn't carry a monthly fee, though there are these options if you want this and can be managed in branch or online. When I reviewed my current account I was impressed with the clear choices I had with no hard sell.

Halifax offer a variety of saving plans. I have their basic saving plan which I can access online which is very helpful. The interest rate is pretty poor but also pretty average with others and what sold it to me at the time was that I was eligible to enter there monthly prize draw, though I have fallen below the threshold for this now, so that part of it is pretty exclusive which is a shame. The product suited my needs at the time but be sure you review all saving plans so you get what's best for you. The customer service in branch is excellent and certainly I was fortunate to have someone who gave me the time to review all savings options.

Customer service is great - at a premium! The lazy mans insurance cover is great, but at a cost and the premium is more than you could negotiate yourself elsewhere. The interest on this account is pitiful. Much better deals elsewhere. Halifax have generally provided me with great service, their staff are always friendly and willing to help, but we all know how much banks really care, which is shown by the poor interest rates and willingness to pay traders unearned bonuses.

I have had a current account with the Halifax for over 30 years. About 6 years ago they started crediting my accounts £5 per month, which was nice. They then changed the rule to: you must have 2 DDs , but, you had to go into the branch to set it up. Well who has time for that?! I am pleased to say you can now upgrade online and I have done so. Customer service is quite frendly but in order to speak to someone at the branch you have to make an appointment. It would be so nice to be able to just walk in and ask questions about my finances instead of having to book in advance.

They are a steady reliable bank
