I have been with HSBC since the Midland Bank days and if I'm honest, I've just drifted along with them. Whilst I have never had any major issues, I do feel they are somewhat faceless and seem to be the least interested in knowing their customers, improving their customer service/ experience, corporate social responsibility, and tackling agendas like financial, digital and social exclusion. To that end, I have opened a second account with another bank, and save with a local credit union. I do not have any plans to leave HSBC at this moment in time, and must stress I have no cause for complaint, I do however feel they could make improvements to their customer offer and hope they elect to do so in the not too distant future.

Have been with this bank for over 30 years. I have always found them very helpful. They have lots of branches in every town. Very good opening hours. The managers are always available to talk to you when you need to. The staff have been fantastic. They remember your name and greet you. They seem to be one of the banks that is recommended on compare sites. Customer service is excellent. I would recommend them very highly to everyone.

Been with HSBC (Midland) for over 40 years. The bank has always listened to my needs. Flexibility is gained through international branches. You are able to look at your global status easily on the internet. Excellent service was provided when taking out and paying off the mortgage, Foreign currency exchange beyond tourist rates was well managed and simple to do. Internet access for all needs was simple and efficient,

I have held a current account with HSBC for almost 15 years and am very happy with the service i have received. The manager of my local branch always makes herself available asap if a request to see her is made. I was mis-sold PPI by my ex branch manager who apologised after the fact and advised i re-claim my PPI, which i have started to do. The service i have received from both managers and tellers has been second-to-none. I would recommend at least an interview with your branch manager.

Not a massive fan of HSBC, they charged me for going overdrawn for about 2 week which I was not impressed with as I thought I was able to go overdrawn up to £50 but apparently they changed this. I did get the money back though, along with a rather long letter. There are no rewards with them either. On a more positive note, their internet site is good and easy to use/ well laid out. Don't really like the branches, I find the staff a little false, well the one's I have had dealings with anyway. On the whole I think there are better option out there.

I have been quite happy plodding along with HSBC, having placed my first wages in our local Midlands branch at the grand age of just 17!! Have always found them to be fair but despite never having been 'in the Red' when hubby lost his job we were sort of left to our own devices. Has been the same since there hasn't been a big wage going into our account and somehow we don't feel that after 43 years of loyalty we matter anymore. such a shame as having opened a small business we get by and ask for no government handouts to pay our bills. pity the same loyalty wasn't as forthcoming to us...

Local accessible branch.

I get my account free, I get free overdraft, been with them about 20 years, never had a problem at all, I get paper statements which I like I also use internet banking, I don't like the foreign customer services though as find them hard to understand and they can't understand me either. so i guess good until you need some help with something I don't know rates of interest or charges as I don't use the overdraft facility provided would be helpful if disabled access was better to my 2 local branches, their excuse is listed building i really feel that is all I have to say on this account try selling too much in branch branch hours should be extended

Took this out on default when I first moved to the country 4 years ago- completely by chance. Should have compared better as Id much rather be on first direct or someone who is known for good customer service. HSBC are fine, though unhelpful when you need them to be flexible or go slightly beyond the absolute basics of service. No one expects much these days - long hold times, automated avatars rather than real people. But it would be so great if they were the exception not the norm...

I have been with HSBC for many many years. It was the first bank I joined as a child and I have never changed. I find their internet banking very easy to use. One of the main features I used on their website is to transfer money. Once the details have been entered they are store so should they be required in the future you can select by the reference details which you entered in the first transfer.
