I moved to direct line as my husband was with them and had cause to make a claim after someone hit his car. The whole claim experience was handled very efficiently and quickly. Good customer service and website. Not sure what the renewal will be like as my husband just left them as the cost went up by quite a lot. Added benefit of multiple discounts for family policy.

Competitive premium even for existing customer at my insurance renewal. I have been able to change my address twice and update my job without any extra charge. I imagine if the change affected the premium they would have to charge you but mine did not and even though new documents were sent out there was no administration charge.

I have just taken out my policy with this insurer so not sure what to make of them yet. I chose them as they offer multi car policies and were a reasonable price. The paperwork arrived quickly with all documents and pre-paid envelope to return proof of no claims. No problems so far with them. Easy to take out the policy on-line

Searched on line first then easily confirmed details and checked discounts for multi policies By phone. Speedy result. Easy to add name on policy. This again done by phone. Did not have to wait in long queue and operator knew his product. If likely to take time they phone back to avoid holding on. Paperwork arrived correctly and promptly.

A few years ago my car was outside during a really bad storm, with huge hailstones. Unfortunately, my car looked like it had a bad case of acne when the storm was over - lumps and bumps all over her, poor thing! contacted Direct Line and they guided me through the process of getting the car repaired - they even sent somebody to inspect my car at my place of work, saving me having to take time off. The car was repaired about a week later at a garage of my choice, and the bill settled directly after.

I have two cars and insure them both with Direct Line now. I like the policy documents as they are easy to read and follow. They email me and post me out the documents which I like too. The prices are competitive and all the phone calls I have had have been well managed and queries promptly handled. I like the way named drivers get some no claims too.

I am what's commonly known as a "rate tart" - every time a policy or mortgage or bonus on a savings account or even feeling a little put out at how much I'm paying for my utilities I start looking on the web for a better deal. I use lots of comparison sites, and go direct to companies for their deals/offers. When I was looking for new car insurance I found that Direct Line were the best deal, and when talking to them on the phone their staff explained everything clearly, and were patient when I was asking what were obvious questions but I wanted clarifying.

A necessary evil in many peoples opinion. Direct line have always been fast and efficient when providing quotes and car insurance certificates. Great customer service, although I have never experienced the claim side of things. I have had a very good experience with them. I should investigate their other products.

No fuss, no problems, had window repaired same day. Never to long on telephone and always sends through competitive renewal quote each year. Always polite on phone, always received accurate documents through the post in a timely manner. On line check available, not on comparison sites so have to look at this separately a little bit annoying. Easy forms to fill in and renewal notices sent out in plenty of time do can check if price is good

Several years ago, a 'boy racer' reversed into my car at an ASDA petrol station. However, he then claimed that I had run into him and without a witness or CCTV evidence, I couldn't prove it! None the less, Direct Line accepted my version of events and paid the repair costs for my car WITHOUT affecting my No Claims Bonus. Although I could certainly get cheaper cover elsewhere, I worry about the level of service when it comes to 'the crunch' and prefer to stick with Direct Line in view of my past experience whenever I have had to make a claim.

Decent service when a claim has been made.

Not the cheapest and quick to levy additional fees for any changes.
