I have insured my car with Direct Line for many years. I have always been impressed by the speed with which they have dealt with any queries or claims. Having worked for some years in the insurance industry I know that the service Direct Line provide is certainly far superior to many other insurers. Speaking to someone in England makes a real difference to how quickly a claim is processed, as handlers at foreign call centres tend to work from a script and if your query is not scripted this can lead to frustration and delay.

You can go to any other insurance company - but you will in the end come back to Direct Line - they deal directly with you, the customer communication is first-class and they confirm all transactions by post within 48 hours. I have used Direct Line for home Insurance, Car Insurance and Travel Insurance. You will find the product suits you every need.

They are an extremely proficent company who offered me the cheapest and it seems most comprehensive cover for my vehicle. I took out fully comprehensive which gives me third party insurance for any other car I drive. I rang up in the morning, the whole process took approximately 20 minutes and I was covered from midday the same day. Touch wood I have never had to make a claim with them so can't comment on that but I have family members in the same household who have had to claim with them and it has been very straight forward.

My son has two valuable bikes which are stored in his bike shed and having insurances provides peace of mind. I have not had to make a claim but feel I get reasonable value for the cost of insurance. I pay annually with my house and contents insurance. Nothing more to add as you really only know how good insurance is if you have to make a claim.,

I needed to change my car registration (cherished plate - not change of vehicle) and there was no fee for this change. They will make a feee for other changes so I will wait until my renewal to add my daughter - the cost of adding her is small, but I don't want to pay the admin fee and I'm only adding her so she can borrow my car if her's is off the road for any reason, not as a regular driver!

I have just bought my own car and taken out insurance, prior to this I drove my mums car and as such was a named driver on her policy with direct line. Direct line offer to bring through the no claims discount built on a policy with them where you have been a named driver and you can use this on your own policy. This said the quote process really doesn't make it clear the difference between this named driver discount and no claims discount... I needed to calrify with the sales team - when I did it was sorted quickly but I should have needed to make the call!

A well known company with a good reputation. Have used them for house and contents insurance so know my bicycles are well protected. The policy documents are clear and the various clauses are easy to interpret. The premium is exceptionally competitive and there are no hidden excesses or exceptions which is important to a cycling fanatic like me who could not cope without my bike .

We have been insured with direct line for many years. They give excellent value for money, protected no claims bonus and legal help when necessary. When we unfortunately had a claim against us this was dealt with efficiently and easily. Customer service advisers are courteous and calls normally don't take too long to be answered. The only down side is that some of their departments don't always communicate with each other we have on occasion found ourselves being transferred from department to department only to end up back where we started from! We have just purchased a new car and after exploring thoroughly all the options we have once again insured through Direct Line!

I have used DL for my car insurance on and off for a number of years now. I do find that it is cheaper to renew online each year, rather than accept the renewal quote. I moved house last year and had completely forgot to inform DL - my renewal was sent to my old address. I phoned up the day the automatic renewal activated and they were brilliant and honoured the online quote I received and changed all my address details for me, without any hassle. There was only one year out of the last 5 that I can think of where the online quote wasn't less than the renewal and that time I used the comparison websites. However, most of the time it is a good idea to check Direct Line as well as the comparison websites.

Used to insure the wife's car with them Don't use anymore as were very expensive Provided fforeign driver cover Had house insurance as well with them and got ripped off in premiums for a few years so now don't use them at all... Better to reconsider every year via comparison websites and get cash back deals for all types of insurance
