Have had this card quite a few years. Have not had much in the way of dealings with customer service but when I have they have been fine. I did have quite a high level of debt on the card a couple of years back and having had that high debt level for a period of time they sent me a letter to say that the interest rate was going up (something of the order of an extra 3%). I called them to close the account and they back down on the rate increase. Can't say I was impressed with that tactic!

I have had a Barclaycard for many years. I have never had any problems. I have even used the card abroad and it was really easy, no issues at all. Barclaycard often offers me the opportunity of transferring balances from other credit cards at low or zero percent although I have never taken them up on this offer. I like Barclaycard as it is a brand that is recognised everywhere.

I like the fact that when I travel abroad, my card is instantly recognised. It has been straight forward to increase my credit limits when I have needed it. Customer services has been fine. On the downside however, there has been a rush to close down too many customer counters. It has become slightly more difficult to have queries dealt with at branches. Nevertheless , telephone customer service has been adequate and useful.

I have two accounts with Barclaycard,A Platinum account which I use for balance transfers at 0% - a long term loan which is brilliant. Have just changed my car and used this as way of paying for it with no interest. My Freedom card enables me to gain rewards. I use this for purchases and pay back as much as I can each month and get a bonus and try not to pay too much interest.

Always available to talk to if there are any issues, staff have always been helpful. Whenever I phone I''m not on hold too long, satisfied customer. Quick to question any strange looking transactions and confirm that I have have made them. The Barclaycard had a great introductory offer of 0% interest for 12 months, and a great balance transfer deal too

I've had a Barclaycard for many years and first obtained one through my bank account with Barclays. Barclaycard is a trusted name in this field and offers security and reliability. Their website is easy to navigate and setting up mobile banking with them is very straightforward, it allows me to check my balance regularly and make top us payments as needed. I also get a text message and email reminding me that I have a payment coming up. Sadly, like most lenders, great deals only get offered to new customers so loyalty is not rewarded, this is something that needs looking at as people try to build up their credit rating with a company. Customer services are always very helpful, I recently forgot my password so had to call and reset everything but this was pretty straightforward. The people I speak to are always very polite and knowledgeable. I would still recommend Barclaycard for their reliability.

I suppose the credit card experience with Barclay card is acceptable. It was easy to transfer the balance from my previous account. As far as any other service level goes I couldn't really comment because I've not heard from them at all except for sending things in the post telling me about great deals i can get if I spend more money. So actually this speaks volumes of their attitude towards customers - I've had no other contact from them other than suggesting i spend more money with them. I wonder if my custom would induce more time and attention from them? This alone is rather irritating and so no, I wouldn't recommend them. I am a little unsure of Barclay's moral standing too. I don't think they operate very ethically which is putting me off them as a service provider and I think I will switch to another provider as soon as I can. Overall I cannot recommend Barclaycard. I do have a reasonable amount of experience with credit card holders and Barclaycard have definitely been in touch the most but always encouraging me to spend more money and how much better the benefits will be to me if I buy more on barclay card. It's up to me surely how much i spend and I should be a valued customer whatever I spend on my card.

Being a second card holder

As a second cardholder on my husbands card I am often frustrated by the limits on the privileges I have ( or rather don't have). My husband works long hours and usually leaves day to day matters like home finances and bills to me as I'm able to get to a phone during 'office' hours. Despite him asking Customer services if he can authorise me to act on his behalf, there are few things I can do or change. Recently I needed to report a lost, possibly stolen, card. I was told only my husband could stop my card. Only when I asked whether Barclaycard would then pick up any losses during the 3 hours before I could contact my husband was I allowed to stop my card, but my husbands card also had to be cancelled at the same time! My husband then had to ring to reinstate the account, but the timescale he was given for new cards to arrive was exceeded by several days requiring another phone call to check all was ok and even then the cards still arrived after the suggested number of days.

Customer service was ok and the completion of the application form was simple, however, it pays to shop around for a better interest rate. Barclaycard do offer good balance transfer deals but again it would pay to shop around. If you do transfer you must be aware of the possible pitfalls if you do not clear the transferred balance within the interest free period. Also Barclaycard do appear to have an inability to fix a repayment date in the month for direct debits.
