Castle Cover - car insurance

Don't really have any experience of using them glad to say - it's an insurance that you have to pay & hope to God you never actually need - I only needed to contact them when my policy never came through. They were very polite & apologized for the delay. The replacement policy is quickly dispatched & I received a few days later

Rude Customer Service

I purchased car insurance with Castle Cover, having 17 years no claims with Sheila's Wheels, my 'no claims' although sent within 30 days where not received in time!!! and after taking a second payment cancelled my car insurance the very next day, letting me know six hours later via email. I telephoned immediately but after waiting 45 minutes where told to 'phone back in the morning as the Admin Department was closed, this was after a very rude customer service assistant undertook a long data check with questions that included my martial status and how many bedrooms in my property, no relevance to car insurance. I told this charming gentleman that I had been on the phone over one hour to which he replied ,"we're busy". The next morning I phoned again, my call answered 48 minutes later however was told to phone back later. Phoned back two hours later, call taking 29 minutes to be answered, I was then informed 'yes, your no claims have been found but you will now have to pay an administration fee and buy a new policy'. No thanks, feel I have been 'ripped off', they took my money and cancelled within 12 hours. If I receive this service buying a policy, what would happen if I had to make a claim? Would I have to spend over two hours trying to get an answer. No Thanks, will never deal with this company or other related again.

Beware! Dreadful co pay to try and deal with.

They tell you to avoid admin costs by doing all amendments on line but they have an Incomplete website! Throw quoted me £35 to cancel my insurance when I enquires 2 months ago but now I'm told it's a £50 charge!!! Customer service is non existent. One advisor asked me how many bedrooms my house had in his security questions!!!

Cancelled insurence without notification

My policy was cancelled and notification was not sent in post for 3 weeks after policy was cancelled. A letter then arrived demanding payment of a fee of £42 within 7 days however the letter arrived with a date on it 6 days before it arrived leaving me just the day to pay it. Trully a poor insurence provider and on i for one will never use again which is disapointing on their part as we have 4 cars in the household which they would have benifited from at renewal time.

Cancelling car insurance costs more than letting it run out

Sold vehicle so wanted to cancel pay monthly car insurance. Told by Castle what I owed, paid and told insurance was cancelled from the 8th July 2015. Then received an email saying I still owed £12.50 because my Direct Debit had been cancelled (on the 8th)and my July 10th 2015 payment could not be collected. I was told that my premiums were paid in arrears even though I had paid a deposit when taking out the policy and believed this to include the first premium payment (in advance). Wrong, it is just another charge and the first Direct Debit payment after that is the first premium payment (in arrears). Had no alternative to pay or suffer future problems with credit report, etc. Ended up paying more for 268 days cover than I would have done for 365 days cover (even on instalments), cheaper to let insurance run out than cancel!! Also told the problem had arisen because one dept. does not know what is going on in other departments. AVOID.

Hard to say
