Avoid at all costs - don't use the post office for broadband services

I signed up as the package on offer was marginally cheaper than sky for a standalone broadband package. My service went live 6 days ago, what a joke. Still have zero service after calling technical support numerous times. Had enough of their support team and spent enough on calling them from my mobile I've contacted sky to pick up the broadband service again. Just had an email telling me km outside of the 14 days cooling off period and they're charging me the early termination fee of £200 + I'm livid. Tried to speak to them and they're customer service skills are abysmal. I'm now facing a bill for nothing and told they'll collect the debt using a debt collector if not paid. Well dear post office, I can fully understand why your brand is in demise, you're the worst company I have dealt with and your service skills leave allot to be desired. I will never recommend you or use anything donning your brand name again.

Can't think of anything positive at all.

Negatives - everything about them is utterly abysmal.

More off than on

I signed up for Post Office Broadband due to the cost, I have a home phone and the broadband is only £10 a month.....mistake!

The service keeps going down and I've ended up using a dongle.

When the service is working, it can be very slow. Also, my partner and I can't use the internet at the same time (it doesn't seem to cope). If a second person logs on, the service crashes.

My partner works from home and we need a reliable service so we will be looking at other company's.

Low Cost

Internet crashes regularly

Best of what is available in my area

Much better than BT whom I was with before. I do not have much choice in my area but the POst Office has always been reliable and even includes free mobile calls at weekends from landline.

Reliable connection, free calls to mobiles at weekends

Not the cheapest overall but I am limited in choice

Post Office Home Phone & Broadband - Good Value if you're on a BT exchange.

I signed up for the full Post Office package (Home Phone and Broadband) a couple of years ago.

It's basically a reseller of BT Broadband (they do the provision and maintenance), and so if (like me) you're unfortunate enough to be on a telephone exhange that hasn't been "unbundled" yet then it's probably the best value service you can get, since other providers will be charged a fee by BT to "host" them at the exchange, - and they'll pass the cost on to you in a higher monthly payment.

At the moment PO charges ?21.40 per month, which includes line rental, free evening and weekend UK calls (plus free calls at the weekend to 40 international destinations and to UK mobiles too!). To save a few quid I took the modem option (wireless and unlimited download ?4.65 extra), and I added an old wireless router I had kicking about the house from a previous ISP.

The only trouble I've had with any of the service has been their occasional email server (incoming) problems. These can be really annoying, especially if you only have a limited amount of time to catch up on your email, - and it just happens to be down at the time. This problem has existed since I got the service and thankfully seems to be happening less frequently. And what used to be 12 hours at a time with no email has mercifully shrunk to an hour or two each time.

My download speed is limited by distance from the exchange to around 3Mbit/s, but it's fairly consistent at that.

All in all, quite a good deal!

Good value package. Free calls to 40 countries and UK mobiles at w/e.

POP3 mail server keels over occasionally!

Abandon Hope All who Enter Here.

Took months to get problems resolved. Many, many wasted hours on the phone. One example : Told me I needed a broadband engineer to call, so I arranged to wait in. They then sent the wrong type of engineer, who said I needed a broadband engineer. They repeated this error twice more !! Speed usually well below 1 MPs. Shocking incompetence. Never again.

My contract has ended!

Incredible incompetance
