Rescued on my Sunday breakdown

Picture this, Sunday night in a car park on the top floor my car does not start at all. The battery is dead and there are no cars or people to ask for a jump.

I called Britannia rescue and they were on the case immediately. The guy was later than I was told but it was Sunday, I had no gripe with that.

He jumped the car and I was immediately on the road. Great customer service.

Unable to recommend this company or not, as I have only been a customer for a short time

I have put average marks because I have only been with this company for 6 weeks. Time will tell.

For that reason I don't know if I would recommend them or not.

I have to go by general reviews I have read about LV, which has been positive.

I was with a different insurance company previously, but their premium quote was very expensive for my car, which is not worth a great deal in terms of market value.

The customer service from LV insurance company has been mixed, I did complain about a generic letter I was sent, which I deemed to be inappropriate.

I will have to see how the next 10 plus months proceed before I can make an accurate appraisal.

These remarks are about the insurance company, rather than the breakdown service because I have not needed them so far.

Thank you Britannia

I bought breakdown cover for my 19 year old daughter who is at university, she came home for Christmas and broke down late one night.

It was her first car and her first ever breakdown. She rang Britannia and they checked she was ok and not in any distress as it was late, dark and pouring with rain and she was alone on the side of the road.

A man was out to her within 25 minutes, he couldn't repair the car on the road side so towed her to our local garage and then bought her home to our front door safe and sound. Great service, top marks.

They go the extra mile.

I locked my keys in my car. I called up my flex plus Nationwide account and they put me through to the breakdown service they provide (Brittania) who were on the scene very efficiently.

Although the person was unable to fix the fault there and then, they did recover me 60 miles back home. They recovered me to a service station first to catch another relay but there was nobody available so they got me and my partner a taxi back home and then had the car towed back for me the following day.

They then had a professional locksmith come out and gain access, paid for my taxi to pick the car up and that was that. Although yes it was a bit of a long winded procedure, I cannot fault their excellent customer service, and their willingness to get the car sorted.

The fact is, I was the idiot who locked his keys in the car. The fact that they then paid for a locksmith to open the car for me also was extremely generous and I'm very grateful.

Brilliant breakdown service, definitely go that extra mile!

Breakdown on June 30th 2015

Our car broke down while we were on a day out in the Lake District and I called LV as I'd recently taken out car insurance with them and had chosen enhanced breakdown cover for myself and my partner.

My call was answered straight away and the man to whom I spoke was really friendly. He checked that I wasn't alone in the vehicle even though I was in a public place in the middle of the afternoon on a lovely sunny day. He gave great customer service and told me someone should be with us within the hour.

The mechanic who came was actually slightly longer than that but only because he was stuck in traffic and he called us to apologise and say that he wouldn't be long. He too was friendly and helpful and soon knew exactly what the problem was. Our car couldn't be mended on the roadside so the mechanic transported it to a garage in our hometown and took us home.

We were really delighted with the service and level of customer care.
