The Olympic tickets resale has now started. We explain how to sell tickets you don't need & how to get the tickets you want.

The official Olympics tickets resale has now started.
Whether you want to sell London Olympic tickets you don’t need, or buy tickets to events that you missed out on now is the time to do it. Here’s how:
Buying Olympic tickets
Can I still buy Olympic tickets?
It’s once again possible to buy tickets for the Olympics 2012, so if you missed out the first time now’s your chance.
No new tickets have been released, but you can now buy others’ unwanted tickets via the London 2012 website.
The London 2012 committee have been very strict about ticket reselling in order to prevent people cashing in on the games. So it’s not actually been possible to buy legit second hand Olympics tickets until now.
When can I buy Olympics tickets?
The Olympic ticket resale is running from the 6th January until 6pm on 3rd February and you’ll be able to buy tickets throughout this period.
Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. However, as those with tickets can post them for sale at any point between 6th January and 3rd February it is worth checking the resale site regularly to see what’s on offer.
Which events can I get tickets to?
Tickets to the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games, and the Olympic Football Tournament are now available.
However, the availability of tickets to each of the different sessions will depend entirely on what people post up for sale.
Unfortunately, this means that there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to get tickets to the sporting events you want to see.
How to buy Olympic tickets
Now the London Olympic tickets resale has started you can buy tickets from the official London 2012 website.
You should only ever buy tickets for the Olympics from the London 2012 website, or from one of its sponsors that are offering travel packages – this is the only way to get legit tickets to the games.
To buy tickets you’ll need to register an online ticketing account and search for tickets to the sessions you want to attend - you can do this by event, venue or date.
Once you’ve found events you’d like to buy tickets for, enter details about the price category and number of tickets you want and, providing they’re available, add them to your basket.
Your tickets will only be reserved once you proceed to the checkout, so if you’ve managed to find tickets to an event you really want to attend it makes sense to start the checkout process asap.
Selling Olympic tickets
You can sell unwanted tickets to the 2012 games on the official London 2012 website between 6th January and 3rd February.
This is the only legit way to sell tickets to the Olympics.
How to sell Olympic tickets
To sell your tickets you’ll need to sign in to your account on the London 2012 website. Then select the sessions you want to sell tickets for and the number of tickets you want to sell.
Once you’ve submitted your resale request the tickets will be removed from your account and posted for sale on the London 2012 website.
Your tickets will be posted for sale at the price you paid for them – there’s no option to price them at a different value.
You’ll receive an email to notify you when any or all of your tickets are sold.
Any tickets that haven’t been sold by 3rd February will be re-added to your account. You’ll have another opportunity to sell these in late spring.
Once you’ve posted tickets for resale you don’t have the opportunity to change your mind so you need to be sure before you hit the submit button.
