Dear Sir/Madam,

Ref: [Insert your mortgage account/reference number]

In view of the FSA's ruling on Mortgage Exit Administration Fees (MEAFs) I am writing to request a refund of the mortgage exit fee I paid to you, [enter company name here], on [enter date on which you cleared your mortgage balance or switched lender here].

[Choose from the following and delete as appropriate]

  • My contract stated that the exit fee was fixed at [Insert amount] when I arranged my mortgage with you on [Insert the date] . However, I was actually charged [Insert amount].

  • My mortgage contract did not state that I would have to pay an exit fee should I move my mortgage to another provider once my initial mortgage deal ended. However, I was charged [Insert amount].

I believe this increase is not an accurate reflection of the true cost incurred by you, [Insert name of the mortgage lender], when I cleared my mortgage balance and therefore request that you repay me [Insert amount], the difference between the fee I paid and the actual amount set out in my mortgage statement.

I look forward to a response within 14 days.

Yours faithfully
