People taking camping trips in the UK this year can extend their home insurance policies to cover possessions.
Holidaymakers trying to save money by taking a camping trip within Britain can save some extra money by protecting their possessions on their home insurance.
Emma Holyer, a spokeswoman for cover provider Liverpool Victoria, explained that many people are "less aware of travel insurance" when holidaying within the UK. This is because they tend to associate the cover with "[falling] ill overseas" - however, it is important that possessions are covered too.
"It could be an annual policy or a weekly UK holiday policy, or otherwise, you can extend your home insurance to personal possession cover which covers your clothes, tent and that kind of thing," she said.
The advice from Liverpool Victoria comes on the back of various reports indicating that Britons will holiday in the UK this year - including from the insurance provider itself. Liverpool Victoria found that 30 percent of Britons are considering a camping trip this year, up from last year's figure of 17 percent. Advance bookings were found to be up 27 percent year-on-year.
Additionally, the Camping and Caravanning Club revealed last month that it saw a 50 percent rise in occupancy rates on its sites during the Easter weekend compared with 2008.
