Frequent Fliers 'Should Buy Annual Travel Insurance'

People who take a number of weekend breaks should buy an annual travel insurance policy, InsureandGo advises.

Annual travel insurance policies are the best option for frequent fliers, according to provider InsureandGo.

The firm's founder, Perry Wilson, said that he has tried to "drum into people" the importance of cover when travelling. "We always say to people that if you are a frequent flyer and you do your two weeks and three weekends, you might as well buy an annual policy," he explained.

According to Mr Wilson, a whole family can be covered for an entire year for "whatever [they] want to do" for just £85. "It's a silly amount for you and your family, realistically," he added.

InsureandGo research released this month showed that 14 percent of British travellers went abroad without buying insurance. Mr Wilson advised people who are trying to save money on their trip to ensure that they have medical cover, which "should be the biggest point of call".

While luggage and cash cover may not be important for short breaks to Europe, the "main crux" should be potential medical problems, Mr Wilson said. "People don't understand that when they go abroad, especially Europe, they'll patch you up but you won't get a free ticket home," he explained.
