The group added that it awaits concrete proposals from the watchdog on making energy bills fairer.
The latest proposals on making energy prices fairer from the industry regulator have been welcomed by Consumer Focus.
According to the group, Ofgem's report, released earlier this week, has "made all the right noises" about regularising bill costs. Among the proposals contained in the regulator's study is a recommendation for greater financial transparency among providers, simplified information on different tariffs and a new rule aimed at narrowing the gap between fuel costs for different payment methods.
For example, customers paying via prepayment meter, which includes many lower income households in the UK, were found to have £90 in average annual added costs, compared to those paying by Direct Debit. The differential between people paying by cash or cheque and Direct Debit customers was also found to be around £80 per year.
Robert Hammond, energy specialist for Consumer Focus, said: "The Ofgem press release has made all the right noises, there are lots of good words there."
He added: "Certainly this is a step in the right direction… Let's see good words turn into good deeds sooner rather than later."
Over five million Britons are thought to live in "fuel poverty", where they spend over ten percent of their income on gas and electricity bills.
