The picturesque village of Linkenholt, Hampshire, is to be offered for sale this week.
This Thursday the idyllic village of Linkenholt goes on sale and, should you have a spare £25 million sitting in the bank, it could be yours in its entirety.
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, near Andover in the North Wessex Downs, the village boasts a manor house, cricket club, 22 pre-let houses, a blacksmith, village shop and a commercial shoot, all included within the asking price. Over 1,500 acres of farm land and 450 acres of woodland will also be included as part of the deal.
In fact, the only part of the village not to be included is the separately-owned, 12th century church which still holds a regular service.
The village is being sold by its current owner, the Herbert & Peter Blagrave Charitable Trust, an organisation who raise funds to help disabled children and injured jockeys. After consulting local residents they decided it was best to sell the whole village as a single package so as to cause as little disruption to the look of the land and pace of life in Linkenholt as possible.
Newbury-based estate agents, Jackson-Stops & Staff, who are set to broker the deal have confirmed that the asking price will sit between £23 - £25million and marked it a good offer, noting that the estate has held its value particularly well since the start of the credit crunch.
"It is very unusual, particularly in southern England, to have a whole village for sale.” Commented Tim Sherston from Jackson-Stops & Staff. “I think there was one in Oxfordshire about four or five years ago but that is the only one I can think of,"
"It's an excellent opportunity for someone to invest in prime agricultural and residential property and it's a safe location to park their money in these troubled times.
"There has been a lot of interest in it."
