The infamous piece of movie memorabilia was sold at auction in Los Angeles.
The iconic lightsabere used by Luke Skywalker in Star Wars has sold for an impressive $200,000 (£133,000) at auction in the States.
Presented for sale by Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, the 'weapon' was famously wielded by actor Mark Hamill in both 'Star Wars: a New Hope' and 'The Empire Strikes Back'.
It is not yet known who purchased the much-coveted piece of film history or indeed whether any of the profit will be donated to charity.
Liam Neeson was famously the first to make a lightsaber available for public sale in 2000. The acclaimed actor auctioned the lightsaber he used in his role as Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn in 'The Phantom Menace' to raise money for Unicef supported charity Movie Action for Children.
The latest sale was housed by famed Hollywood memorabilia auction house 'Profiles in History' and Luke Skywalker's lightsaber was among several high profile pieces available to the highest bidder.
The helmet worn by actor Anthony Daniels as C-3PO in 'Star Wars Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' fetched $100,000 (£67,000), while his robotic hands, which were sold as a separate item, raised $30,000 (£20,000). A section of the Death Star from the original film was also presented for auction and sold for $20,000 (£13,000).
In addition, an original set of signed, first edition copies of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, a first edition copy of Ian Fleming's 'You Only Live Twice' and costumes from 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day', 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman Begins' were among the other pieces of Hollywood memorabilia sold.
