In their efforts to get us spending, more and more retailers are resorting to '3 for the price of 2' style offers.
However, while these can undoubtably provide a great means of getting more for less there are a few tricks that you need to know to make sure you get the best deal.

Is it the best deal possible? - Don't assume that because something is on offer it makes for a good deal. Check that the products aren't available for less elsewhere or that you won't get better value for money from an alternate brand or product.
Buy wisely - Most 3 for 2 offers will give you the cheapest item for free so make sure you get the most from the deal by combining your purchases wisely when you go to the till. Either buy products of similar value or, if you're taking advantage of the offer more than once, make multiple trips to the till.
Grouping your purchases in terms of cost and paying for the 3 most expensive items included in the deal first, then returning with the next 3 most expensive items, then the next three and so on will mean that you get to benefit from the biggest savings possible. Yes, it may be a little extra leg work for the sales assistant but at the end of the day you're the one footing the bill!
Stock up - If the offer is on non-perishables that you know you'll use sooner or later and won't be able to get cheaper elsewhere it's worth stocking up as it will mean saving more in the long run.
