Find out how to protect yourself against credit card fraud & discover how you could win a Sony HD Digital Camcorder worth £500.

It's estimated that over million 65,000 Brits and 10 million US citizens fall victim to identity theft every single year, making it the one of the fastest growing crimes to affect individuals on 'both sides of the pond'. As a consequence, taking steps to protect your identity has never been more important.

In support of National Identity Fraud Prevention week we wanted to think outside the box and try a slightly different way of getting this important message across.

By participating in our 'Protecting Your Money' video competition you'll not only be helping to spread awareness of a serious issue that affects over a quarter of the population, but you could win yourself a Sony HD Digital Camcorder worth £500 too.

The idea is to create an entertaining video that conveys a serious message about the importance of protecting your finances against potential misuse. We have no doubt you'll improve on our attempt!

To get the ball rolling we've created a 'light hearted' video that attempts to emphasise the importance of destroying your unused or unwanted credit cards. This is a must in the fight against fraud as credit card misuse represents one of the most common forms of identity theft affecting both the US and the UK.

Next time try thermite. It's fairly easy to make (Iron oxide commonly known as rust and aluminium powder) the trick is getting it to the heat required to cause a thermite reaction. A magnesium rod will do nicely (Although that is enough to damage the card on it's own thermite will do so more dramatically)

The result would be that the burning thermite will eat through the card, the table, the floor, and start to eat the soil benieth it before fizzling out.
