Expiry: Ongoing

Want to turn your old mobile phones into cash? We explain how.

What's the deal?

If you have an old mobile phone sitting unused at home then it's time to dig it out and turn it into cash with the help of the Mobile Phone Xchange, one of the largest mobile phone recyclers in the UK.  They recycle thousands of different makes and models and will even accept damaged mobiles for a reduced rate giving you an easy way to get rid of some clutter and make a fair few pounds in the meantime.

How do I benefit?

Visit www.mobilephonexchange.co.uk, enter the make and model or IMEI number of the phone you want to recycle into the search box (you can get this by typing *#06# into your phone's keypad), or use their list of manufacturers to select your phone.

Once you've found it they'll provide you with a trade-in value and, if you're happy with this you'll need to proceed to the checkout.  Here you'll simply need to enter your address details and decide how you want to receive payment (they offer PayPal, BACS or cheque).  You will also need to inform them whether you require a pre-paid envelop or are happy posting it yourself using the address label they provide online.

All that's left to do is pop your mobile phone in the post and wait for payment to arrive.

Expiry

This is an ongoing service and there is no limit on the number of phones you can trade in.

Conditions

You will need to send in your mobile phone complete with battery and memory card (where applicable) to receive the full value quoted.  The mobile Phone Xchange will pay between 30 - 90% of the quoted value for damaged mobile phones.

It's recommended that you obtain a 'Certificate of Posting' before you send your mobile phone off, you can get this free from the Post Office and it will provide you with compensation up to the value of £32 if your phone is damaged during transit or does not arrive.  For mobile phones valued over this amount it's worth considering Special Delivery which offers compensation of up to £500.
